Hi june mamas.I am looking for silver linings, this morning. I have spent the last few months attempting the impossible. It is becoming increasingly clear to me that this baby will not be born at home attended by a midwife. The only midwife I can find attending homebirths in Broome County is recovering from a car accident. My insurance has changed and this policy will not fully cover a homebirth. It's all slipping through my fingers. So I have decided to prepare a UC kit in the event that things fall in to place and our birth naturally unfolds at home. If not, I have talked to my midwife and she has agreed to do whatever she can to make a hospital birth as close to my ideal as possible. That is where I coud use some suggestions. How can I bless this cold one size fits all birthing space,and make it my own?

I would look into UC if you can't find a midwife. I'm planning  UC with my baby. The comfort of your own home just can't be beat. That aside, I would recommend a labor partner other than your DH/DP for the hospital. A doula is a good choice, if that's not possible, a friend/relative/anyone you want. Someone to be your advocate, and the in-between guard/communicator to medical staff. Keep your chin up! I'm sure it'll all work out. :)

"Someone to be your advocate, and the in-between guard/communicator to medical staff". That would be my dh. I can understand where you are coming from, but Dh has been by my side for two unmedicated inductions. He has proved his merit in the delivery room. I am curious, I should plan for extra special support in a hospital, but less so at home?

I have been praying for guidance, it is my observation that a UC mama will need the faith of a master.  I'll keep praying.
