Somebody thinks we have pretty good taste in baby names :)
aw how funny. we were thinking of ylva if we had a girl :) elva was my grandmother's name. i like the more unusual names that are still names--not many people have my name (roxanne) and i always appreciated that. my husband has an uncommon name, too.
Oh, it's nice to see that Kestrel (our boy name) made the list! We've gotten lots of positive reactions to Rowan (our girl name), but a lot of people have looked kind of askance at Kestrel - I'm glad someone likes it!
I agree BubbleMa :D So fun. I always have loved that I could come to these forums for name advice and know that my likes wouldn't be judged on personal tastes....because we are so ecclectic :D I can love a name that someone else chooses for their baby, even if it isn't something that would suit my family and baby....and I love how much thought everyone here puts into their names. These aren't arbitrary names that sound nice, but something special that so much thought goes into....she should know these names are amazing for that reason too !
That is pretty darn cool! I don't have the time right now to read over our thread but I am wondering if someone else mentioned Winter or if she got that from when I mentioned my DD - Charlotte Winter? I love our group and I wish she would do a follow up article with more of our names. I am glad she had Sång too- it is a beautiful name :)
Oh my, I am having a really bad day and this helped, so I had to re-post. It's from the comments section of that Jezebel thread:
"I once had the misfortune of meeting someone named "L-Ah". When I read her name from the receipt, she quickly informed that the "dash not silent." That is to say: La-dash-a."
Ha! Love it! Made my heart a little lighter today! :-)

Ruby - I love that story, I can guarantee no one has ever pronounced her name "correctly"!
The only problem, is that this - symbol is not called a dash it's called a hyphen, so really her name should be Lhyphenah

My daughter's name is Roxanne, goes by "Roxie" and we love it. I love names that are actual names but not super common.
Agreed. I have actually come across many a mothering.com forum thread in ransoms google searches for pregnancy/parenting information. It's the belly photos that scare me the most - I don't really mind if other threads pop up as much... But still.
