I just got my first ultra sound today at 6w1 (due date Dec2nd) day and i saw a heart beat! Typing this makes me tear up. I had two miscarriages last year, and from the get go both my ultrasounds were not very promising.

With my "ultrasound history" I was worried sick, that something will be wrong this time around too. And when i saw that flicker of my tiny little bean, i couldnt help but cry happy tears. I know i need to wait till 14 weeks to be out of the miscarriage risk zone. But according to the doctor the risk of a  miscarriage drops by 70% after you hear a heart beat.  Hearing and seeing a beating heart inside of you of a growing baby is an amazing experience, that no words can describe.

With my misscariage history i am considered high risk, have my second u/s apt on 4/25.

Please tell us your first ultrasound story. How far along were you when you got it? Did you see your little bean? When is your next u/s? Whats your due date?

Congratulations, mama!!! I'm so excited for you! That little heartbeat is the most amazing sound.

Congrats on seeing the heartbeat! I hope things continue to progress well for you!

Our BFP was a complete surprise after a year of trying unsuccussfully, and DH and I were lucky to be able to get in right away for an early scan after I had blood drawn for betas. We went to our fertility specialist's office for the first ultrasound last Wednesday -- I was five weeks along exactly. I was actually scheduled to undergo a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy that day (prior to undergoing further infertility treatments next month), so it was a little surreal to be going in for an ultrasound instead.

I was worried that we wouldn't be able to see much so early, and that things would be so ambiguous that we'd just be left worrying for the next few weeks. But we were able to clearly see the sac with a yolk inside, and everything was measuring perfectly for that stage. We were also able to see that the embroyo was implanted in a great spot, and that it wasn't ectopic.

We are going in for our second ultrasound next Wednesday -- we'll be seven weeks and should be able to see a heartbeat at that time. I'm hoping that we'll get the all-clear at that point to 'graduate' from the fertility clinic -- I called the midwife we're planning to see two weeks ago to alert her that we'd probably be scheduling our first appointment at about eight weeks.

Looking forward to reading other ultrasound stories from those planning to have scans!

Yay for a heartbeat!  How exciting!  Congrat, mama!!

We likely won't get an u/s until the anatomy scan at 20ish weeks...but I look forward to hearing about everyone else's!! :)

Congratulations! That's awesome. Hearing the heartbeat is so great.

We have our first u/s booked for May 2 - I'll be almost 9 weeks then so I know we'll see something. I wish my RE could have got something a little earlier but I feeling so lousy that I know there's a wee one (or 2!) in there.

Congratulations on a great ultrasound! Having my first next week (at 7 weeks). Hopefully there's only one in there. I don't know if I could handle twins at this point in my life. redface.gif

THis is our third kid and we are both older. I haven't had any miscarriages yet but my sister had four. I had practically willed myself to believe it would be bad news at 6w3d (yesterday). And I was so strangly overcome when I saw that beating heart. Just overwhelmed. So nice.

At my first MW appointment we'll schedule a dating u/s because of my irregular cycles. Hopefully I'll be around 9 weeks when we have it done. I got a peek at my son around the same point and it was so beautiful and overwhelming to know there was a healthy, perfect little bean growing in there! I didn't realize how scared I had been until I started bawling when she showed me the heartbeat.

I had my first u/w yesterday which was exactly 4 weeks and the day I got my BFP (first day I tested).  My infertility doc said everything looked great.  I go back next Wednesday.

we had our first ultrasound today.  baby was measuring 6w5d (a little off from the 7w3d i am, but the doc said it was within the 7-day margin of error, so not to worry).   strong heartbeat at 148bpm, which was beautiful to hear.

Hi Everyone -

I just posted this in the November DDC too, I'm hanging out in both, but I just wanted to share with you all too that my ultrasound went great yesterday! What a big relief! We saw the heartbeat and it was nice and strong at 180 bpm! There is only one baby, which is great :)

I had estimated that I was 8 wks based on LH and temps, and I was 7w4d based on LMP and the baby measured 7w6d. There is a day or two error, so we're right in the ball park!

I had a miscarriage last fall at 10w but the baby had stopped growing at 7 1/2 so this puts me past when the other baby stopped growing, so past one milestone, yippee! I'm sure that 10w will be another milestone too....

Whew!

I am 6w1d and this is my 4th pregnancy, but I only have one daughter who is 3.  My miscarriages were before my daughter.  So, I was a nervous wreck today going in for the appt.  I've been on a baby aspirin, high folic acid and progesterone this month as I was with my healthy, uneventful pregnancy with my daughter.  My u/s went great...we saw the heartbeat and baby measuring right on target.  However, they did see a subchorionic hematoma.  He said not to worry, but of course I will.  I haven't had any bleeding and hopefully my body will just absorb it up, but I never like leaving the doctors wondering if I will be pregnant in a few weeks :(

I had an ultrasound done yesterday because I have had a virus and they wanted to check that the baby was doing ok because I was so dehydrated.  The baby measured at 6w2d and my LMP would be 6w5d.  I saw the heartbeat and my little baby wiggling around in there and started crying.  I also saw the yolk sac and she said the baby is in a nice spot and everything looks perfect.  I was sad that my husband wasn't there to see it because he is on a business trip.

They set me for my next appointment in two weeks and told me I would get blood drawn and another ultrasound done.  I don't think I want another ultrasound.  I'm a little hesitant about getting so many early ultrasounds.  I would rather leave the baby alone while it is so delicate and wait until 20 weeks.  I am probably going to tell them at my 8 weeks appointment not to do the ultrasound and hopefully they don't give me a hard time about it.

I had my ultrasound this morning, and first I saw two large dark spots, then they zoomed in and there were two heartbeats and two yolk sacs! They confirmed the official due date was around December 9. I thought December 8, so I was just about on target, and they're both measuring around 7 weeks.

I seriously didn't know if we'd be having any babies, and because of all we've gone through we were saying "One and we're done!" Well, it looks like two and we're done!

I have one more ultrasound with the fertility clinic in 1 1/2 - 2 weeks, then I move on to an OB. I've already scoped out a midwife group that I'm going to contact this week.

Congratulations on those heart beats, ladies!! And Kale! Two!!! That's so great!

Congratulations to those who have seen the hbs!  That generally means the risk of m/c is super low!

As long as everything goes well here I'm thinking about no u/s this pregnancy unless they are medically indicated.  Though will have to ask DH his thoughts.  I had some in the previous ones, usually between 22-24 weeks.
