Negative Test at the Doctors???!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! « Back to Group Discussions

Hi Mummas,

I just got my first positive yesterday at 11 DPO which puts me at 3 weeks 5 days today. And 12 dpo today as well.

I went in to see a doc (not my normal amazing doctor) and get urine/blood tests to double check.

The urine came up negative.....

But all the (FOUR) HPTs I have taken at home have been positive positive positive.

I have missed my period, huge boobs etc- I KNOW I AM PREGNANT

But the test came up negative....

Is it just the fact that it is still very very VERY early and his test wasn't as sensitive as mine??

I really hope thats the case.... I really want this...

Reassurance/ Ideas / Advice / Experiences very much needed pretty pretty please..

Did he draw blood to check beta levels and progesterone? So early, blood work is really the most accurate indication of pregnancy.

I have read that the Dr.'s test are not as sensitive as some of the early response tests you can get at the store. It may have been on poas.com, but I will see if I can find it and post it for you. If I remember correctly a lot of clinics use the less sensitive ones because they cost less.

Go back to the Dr's office in a few days and I bet the urine test be positive then, because you ARE pregnant!!! :-)

Thank you for the reassurance and information.
I am going back tomorrow bright and early to get bloods done. Thankfully I only have to wait one day for the result... But I already know the result.
I truly think that I was just looking for an authority figure/professional etc to blatantly say "yep your preggo!"
Not feeling as stressed any more... Just exceptionally emotional. In fact I can't stop crying ?!?!?

Don't fret my dear!  I got a neg test at the doctor when I was pregnant with my first and had a home pos.  I know how important it is to have the reassurance that you are pregnant.  I'm sure you'll get it very soon!

We have a little bean in there!!!

HCG level is 179

The doctor was amazed that I already knew about him/her! Especially as he didn't pick it up on urine at all.

I think he was even more shocked when I explained that no I wasn't birthing this beautiful bub in a hospital but at home. Nearly fell off his swivel chair!

Ha ha so I feel plenty better!
