Are old threads not being locked anymore?

I keep seeing years old threads being bumped up, do you guys not lock them after 6 months anymore? I guess it's not a huge deal, just kind of a pet peeve of mine. I know it would annoy me if I asked a question 3 years ago, and someone decided to answer it today.

Is there a reason why they aren't being locked and archived? The number of old threads being bumped up is getting to be really high. I feel bad because brand new members are not realizing how old the threads are and that they are not likely to get a response. Plus it just clutters up the board and new posts.

We installed a modification on our previous platform to auto-lock old threads. That modification does not work on our new platform.

As well, we found it to be an issue for members who posted personally identifying information earlier on in their membership and wanted to edit but could not because of the locked threads. That required them to send us a list of URLs to manually unlock for them, which became pretty tedious work. 

Posting to an old thread does bump it up to the top of the forums list and many people don't pay attention to the date and the conversation carries on. It can be an issue if the thread is about someone's personal situation, like a pregnancy problem. In that case you can either post to let the new member know the discussion is dated and may not get a response or you can report the post to the old thread and mention that it is in response to a very old post and then we'll let the new members know.
