FIRST time TTC

Me and my partner ( FTM Transgender) have been together for 5 years and are getting married in August. All I have ever wanted is to be  a wife and a mother. We are beginning this journey because we would love to conceive on our honeymoon ( although I know the chances are rare that it will happen on the first try). I am excited to talk to women who have go through this experience and soak up as much information that I can. I have done my own personal research but I think the best information I can get is from someone who has tried and succeeded.

Also, any help on a sperm bank that we can have the shipment sent to our home without a doctor filing paperwork.

ANYONE in the same situation as me, PLEASE any advice would be fantastic. We have decided to us an anonymous donor and to do it at home. Both of those are EXTREMELY important to us.

Hi Amanda--Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Northwest cryobank will send to your house without a doctor sign-off (though if you do later decide to use a doctor you'll need to re-register with them or they get pissy). We used them and had a fairly good experience, though not perfect. But they're inexpensive compared to others, have willing-to-be-known donors, and were easy to get ahold of, which worked for us. People use all kinds of banks here, so others will probably chime in with recommendations for their favorites. It also depends on what you're looking for in a donor. Since we were looking for white guys with brown hair, the world was our donor-oyster, but if you need something more specific or racially diverse the options get a lot more limited.

Head over to Queer Conceptions for lots of advice about timing, charting, and all the other stuff that will help you figure out the best way to do everything. Most of the regulars here seem to read both boards and chime in even if we're in different places on the TTC train, and plenty of those over at QC are working on second (or more!) kiddos, so they'll have the best advice for you.

Oh my goodness! Thank you for being so helpful! Northwest is really the only on that I have looked at that has seemed to be reasonably priced but, I didn't want to jump into anything too quickly. My partner is bi-racial so it is A LOT hard to find a donor that is either bi-racial ( White and black) or a fair skinned black donor. I am absolutely going to go post in the forum you suggested. There are so many options here on the site so I wasn't sure where the right place to start was. Thank you again for being so kind!

I totally hear u on finding a biracial donor. We were not able to find someone who was just native & white. If they were native they were only 1/64 or some shit like that. It was the most frustrating thing ever. Finally we settled on an Italian guy. He's basically white, but he can tan easily. This way when DW who is 1/2 Native & 1/2 Mexican gives birth, the child will look like it could be from both of us. Thing is, she's dead set on using the same donor for when I try. Hence, the kid I give birth to will only be white. It pisses me off to no end. I want our kids to look alike and I also know that the one I give birth to will have more privilege in the world, which makes me ache. To complicate it more, DW keeps saying she wants white babies because she wants them to have privilege in the world that she did not have. This makes me so incredibly sad. It is a loaded thing for sure...
