So....do you have to have a Gmail e-mail address?  My only Gmail account is through API and as a leader, they disable your ability to join groups, etc.  When I try to join, it gives me an error saying I'm not allowed to join because of API's settings.  Is there another way to keep up with this?  I can pm you my Yahoo email address if I can be added without Gmail?

I just joined the google group (I hadn't seen that part when I first signed up).

Thandiwe, my city has a few independent bead stores with supplies for jewelry making. If you have a Michael's or Joanne near you, they have beads and supplies. I've also seen beads on etsy and ebay, and I bet there are a lot more online options, too.

My beads came, they're strung.... 

And my 2 year old is INSISTING on wearing the necklace. Takes it off of me in order to wear it. Lil' stinker!!!!

My son helped me string mine! We actually had to make two necklaces, so that he could have a birthing necklace as well. I just bought some extra beads at JoAnn Fabrics. :) I've actually started wearing mine and have gotten a lot of compliments on it! I'm so glad we did this!

I still need to string mine! Otherwise I'll be taking a small container of beads to my birth, which doesn't seem as good for focusing, etc but I could shake it at my partner if he's annoying me.

Lol! This is awesome! I'm stringing mine soon, now that I have my crafty stuff and can get at my silk thread. I agree w Newmum, I would love to see the necklaces. I'll post a pic of mine as soon as I get it done. I'm thinking of making a bracelet so I can see it during my labor.

I just got some wood beads today to space between the group's beads to make it long enough for a necklace. I'm going to work on it tonight when I'm done with real work and I'll post a picture when it's done. I got some advice from the woman at the store, who thought the arrangement I had already worked out balanced things well, so it will be pretty similar to what I posted on the google group.  Can't wait to see what others produce!

I added a big stone for the middle of my necklace and added some agate spacers (it was about $3 for a container of them at JoAnn). I figured that this would also be a great breastfeeding necklace after baby is born. The big one in the middle is also great for teething. I made a similar necklace with the big stone as a teething/breastfeeding piece with my son.

Cool, Sallyrae! I like the teething/breastfeeding idea. I imagine that it's going to be hard to wear much jewelry with the baby.

Ooh, I love your finished necklace, Andaluza! Its beautiful! The wooden spacers look very nice. It looks like you used the red bead as sort of a middle pendant? That is what I ended up doing with mine :)

Here's mine. 

The white thing in the picture is the ends that the cords are wrapped around- I strung mine in the car on a trip to the zoo. :) 

I used red glass beads and some of an amber necklace that my toddler had broken for spacers.

I finalllllly got this thing strung together! I used the leftovers of my beads as spacers and got a magnetic clasp so it will fit around my neck.
