What's in a name...? 

We have almost certainly named our little one, but not announced yet IRL (I have yet to write it on the birth record and mail it in..) I don't know if it's awkward or not - but our pick is Hawthorne Thomas.  After ShyingViolet's tragedy I, for some reason, feel badly about thinking of announcing the same name as her sweet Hawthorne.  ShyingViolet, if you do read this, please know how much I've been thinking of you and praying for you.

So, it is a 99% chance that he is Hawthorne Thomas.  I think I just have to get over the need to feel the "Yes, that's his name!" feeling that I had with the others.  I have loved Hawthorne since I first heard it, I will call him Huck, which I also love, and hopefully it will soon be, "I can't imagine him anything else." soon.

Don't you dare feel bad about using Hawthorne. It's a lovely name that deserves to be used. My Hawthorne was a Huck, too. It's a great nickname. Thank you for thinking of me, though. I feel out of place among all the happiness here.

Well, we've finally done it.  We've named the baby.  He's a month old today, and it's official.  While I love love love Hawthorne, when it came down to it, he just wasn't a Hawthorne (which is why, I think, I was having such a hard time naming him - I wanted it so bad and it just wasn't working.) Anyway, after staring at him for weeks wondering what his name is, Atticus just kept coming out.  So, Atticus it is!  Atticus Booth.  I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it, and getting over not using Hawthorne (although it will be top on my list next time), but I really love it.  I blogged about it, if you want to check it out:

Feels good to have that settled, doesn't it? (I had the exact same experience with my #3, taking 5 weeks to settle on the name that had been coming up all along)

That's exactly how it was.  Maybe its something about 3rd babies.  It is nice to be able to call him something other than "Baby".
