micro fleece not working as inner layer of pocket diapers- help please

cloth diaper friends- I made a bunch of pocket diapers using PUL and micro fleece lining. My problem is the microfleece lining isn't letting pee through but just repelling it and the pee leaks out the diaper. Is it just an " I haven't washed the material enough" problem do you think? Is there a certain way to prepare the fabric before it is used on diapers? Would love some insight.  I washed the material twice before I sewed with it and the diapers have been washed a few times since I sewed them.

Are you sure you have the right type of fleece?  There are several types, some of them work far better as covers than as inners, and some are great inners and don't work as covers.  From your description, I'd guess you have the wrong type.  Washing more really isn't going to change anything - it's essentially plastic, what you have is what you have, not like cotton or hemp which needs stripping before becoming absorbent.

I guess it might be the wrong kind, I did buy it from a diaper fabric co-op and it is NOT the outer type (regular fleece).  Maybe I'll experiment with a small piece and see what happens.
