seems the contractions have stopped but I'm still feeling crampy from time to time.

Doc asked me today when I was going to have the baby already, so I'm taking that as helpful encouragement! I've put on 2 pounds since last week, maybe the baby is super giant now!

Lost my mucous plug in the shower this morning! I kept thinking that I was loosing it bit by bit over the past few weeks (extra stringy discharge) but this morning I got out of the shower and there was a HUGE, like quarter cup blob of goo on in the tub. My mom said she always went into labor within a day of loosing her plug! Ahhhhhh!

I keep getting excited, but then I remind myself... it could be weeks.

So I'm at least 2 cm dilated, 70% effaced and no mucous plug. Oh, and my boy has an estimated weight of 10 lb 3 oz. I'm going in for acupuncture at 4:00 today.

I'm officially due in two weeks (somewhere between 5/9 and 5/11).

I'm really nervous that if I go 40 weeks this little dude will be over 11 pounds!

My first was over 11 lbs (born on her actual due date) so I feel your pain and can understand your worry. She was estimated to be 13 lbs so that was the number I had in my head. It will be ok- and 11 pound babies stop people in their tracks. It is my claim to fame. Today she is nearly 6 and barely 40 lbs. She is a tiny little thing but she was the biggest born at our hospital for years and our hospital delivers 4800 babies per year.

Wow, Linnie!  That *IS* a claim to fame!!  Over 11?! Amazing.  (How big do they think this baby of yours is?)

My last was 9lb 14oz and came out, to quote the midwife, "like a freight train" (vaginal). She was roly poly throughout babyhood and it still a bit of a chunk, but a very healthy girl...  I agree, big ones are pretty darling :)

Wow! This is so exciting! :-) I didn't lose my plug the first time around (induced around 38-39 weeks) and the second time, not until I had my membranes swept at 41w and then I went into labor that night.

Either way...don't worry about the 10lb baby. LOTS of moms have been giving birth to big, strapping 10lb (and bigger!!) babies for generations. My mom had one baby that was over 10lbs and another that was very nearly 10lbs. And those weight estimates are often generous (as in, wrong).

Thanks but I wish I had pushed her out then I really could shock people! I had an u/s at 33 weeks with this one that put him at 7lbs. The tech told me that the measurements are pretty accurate at 33 weeks and get less so as time goes on but who really knows. My second was 9.10 at 38 weeks and this one will be born at 38 weeks too (May 2) and I am measuring the exact same as my second and I weight the exact same so I figure around the high 9's perhaps early 10's. I look smaller though and everyone comments that I look a lot smaller than with my first two. My kids are long too- 22 in and 22.5 in. They said that 11 lbs was huge but they were mostly shocked because I didn't have GD and she was my first and she is a girl!

All of my dad's siblings (and my dad) were 10 month, 10+ pound babies. All born vaginally as far as I know, my grandma had 7 kids! So I guess it couldn't have been that bad if she was willing to go through it 7 times... still.

I was 6sish pounds and 3 weeks early. So far the midwives are guessing that my baby is between 6 and 7 pounds, so I'm hoping I take after my mom's side of the family!
 

I've still got absolutely nada going on in terms of labor signs, which is fine by me. I have a work project that's due to wrap up Friday, but I suspect it will roll over into next week and there isn't anyone I can hand if off to.

Someone's got to have a baby soon! I need birth stories to keep me from obsessing about my own prodromal labor. I'm 37 (almost 38) weeks, and as of Monday, I was 3-4 cm dilated, 75% effaced. So much crampiness, and I get regular contractions every night (tight and not super painful). Just waiting.

I kind of wanted to get checked but I know she doesnt really do that and I know there really is no need for it. but I am so curious.

well today I lost another decently big ickiness....not sure if it was some of the original or if like what I have researched, it rebuilt itself and I lost it again....this was not as big as the first<(a few days back). But this was more the size (maybe even a bit bigger) than my ones with the other pgs. Still no blood tinge...but I know that is not a must for it to be the plug. It was definitely much thicker than my normal discharge...yeah I know TMI. =S

At times the baby is so low that I think that it might stick its hand out and wave to me...lol. When laying in bed at night, I can feel movement as low as below my pubic hair line....it is like the baby is hanging out in the birth canal....which I know isn't really the case....but man it is like dude......one good sneeze and I could blow this baby across the room...lol.
The other night I didn't even "feel" pregnant because the baby was so low..........well outside of the lower pressure.....but my upper body (belly button on up) felt like normal...it was so strange!
But then sometimes it seems normal....and I have that kind of whole abdomen full feeling that I normally feel around this time of pg.

I will say that I don't like vag exams.....but I am curious to know how dilated and effaced I am. I don't get how you guys can check yourself! I can barely reach to wipe...let alone check myself!!!

My baby was looking at about 8 lbs at 37 week measurement (although by my calcs it would be beginning of 38 weeks). My babies have always measured shorter (I don't know where they get that from.....rolls eyes.....well I guess that is not very funny for you all given that none of you have actually seen me..lol).

Sometimes I get so much pressure down south that I am almost certain baby is going to break my water.....but so far nothing =S

Also who in the world equipped my baby with razor blades in there?!?!.....essh!!!
