Screaming and Thrashing at Diaper Changes

DS (8mo) used to love getting his diaper changed, but lately it's such a struggle every time. The second I put him down, he starts arching his back so he can crawl away and screams & cries if I try to hold him down. This isn't that big of a deal with pee diapers, but does not work with the big poop diapers that he has been having since he started solids!

Sometimes I can distract him with my phone or a toy, but it doesn't always work. Any other suggestions?

I'm having the same prob with DS (7 1/2 months)!  It seems like it's just part of becoming more mobile.  He wants to crawl and explore instead of staying still while he gets a diaper change.  I'm hoping it's just a phase.

I guess I was hoping someone had a magic tool to help, but I don't think it exists. I've been rotating "cool" toys every couple days. Today was a plastic hanger, a few days ago it was a brush.

Distraction and being quick.  It's completely normal, and it will pass.  In the meantime just practice deep breathing techniques.

Yes, I've gotten much quicker and I always plan ahead and get all my supplies ready before setting him down!

Although I'm always cursing my BumGenius 4.0 diapers. I only have a few of them but I find the buttons SO HARD to button that it takes me much longer.

No suggestions, just commiseration.  DD is also going through this phase.  Poor DH has a harder time with her than I do, and he's started cursing prefolds (whereas before he was singing their praises) and reaching for pockets more.  LOL.  He used to pin flats when DD was newborn, now he loves pockets and all-in-ones.
