VBAC mamas? - Page 2
Sorry for not checking back in with you ladies, haven't been able to hop on the computer much lately for anything other than work.
I'm feeling a little more positive I think. It might have something to do with feeling slightly less horrible in the morning sickness department. I have a hard time being positive about anything in the first trimester lol.
Glad to know there are other VBAC mamas out here also.
Any of you planning an HBAC per chance?
I'm planning a VBAC. I love the practice I'm with this time, it's a midwifery group. I've even met the peri they work with (his office handled my dating ultrasound). We had a consult and I got to ask him how he would treat me if I had GD again. Last pregnancy I was induced b/c of the Gd. His attitude shocked me. He pretty much said, so you may have Gd, at this point you don't so your pregnancy is normal, we'll treat it as such. When I asked if He would induce, he asked why he would do such a thing if I or the child wasn't in distress. He was like 80% of women go into labor before week 41 and of the 20% that don't, 80% of those women go into labor before week 42. He also asked me if I had thought about water birth. I am so jazzed. I can't believe how confidant I feel.
Ds will be around 2 weeks short of 3 years old, though if I go to 42 weeks, they will share a birthday week.
Yeah, I've heard of some of the midwives that work at our VBAC hospital going "oops" couldn't get her out of the tub fast enough. :p but when I talked to them as a vbac they wanted to follow the rules to a T vs the OB who was open to me saying no to a lot of things.
Faithstuff - I'm stoked for you! That sounds wonderful!
Faith - that sounds awesome. I think you're in good hands.
Same, which is a bummer b/c I would've loved tot try a water birth. But hospital policy in my area says that VBAC births require constant monitoring, and they don't make waterproof monitors.
Hi qmtwins! I was a pre-e mama too! Failed induction c-sec at 33 weeks. Here's to a healthy and normal pregnancy for both of us! Are you doing anything differently this time? Seeing a specialist or anything? I really didn't do any follow-up testing or anything, just ran from the hospital as soon as I could and kind of hoping for the best this time...
I'm not doing anything differently. Did my research and found that since I had twins and pre-e I have about a 7% chance of it again. I've thought hard and long about visiting perinatology and being followed, tested for cardiac output and possibly using atenolol (routinely used in my neck of the woods) for the pregnancy to "prevent," it. I did the "high risk" pregnancy once. With about a 7% chance, I'm taking my chances.
