So ds abruptly weaned himself last Saturday. He is 18 months and I was getting to the point of wanting to wean so I decided to not force the issue of his nursing strike. I bound myself up and finally today I started to not be so engorged. Well, I just noticed that there is a really dark red spot on my left breast and underneath is a lump of the same size. Now there are a lot of lumps in there as I am weaning so it's nothing too strange or any more painful than the other ducts that are still full. I am just worried because it is soooo red. I haven't expressed any milk since about tuesday. When I tried for a good 15 minutes in the shower today, I couldn't even get out one drop.....What do I do? If I don't get it to express will it become mastitis for sure? Just massaging it, is that enough? I have had mastitis 2 times and I am terrified of getting it again....Thank you dear mamas for any advice you can give.......
