I think my water just broke!

I am 38 weeks today, and I'm pretty sure my water just broke.  I was taking a warm bath and I felt intense pressure on my cervix and then a pop and a BIG gush of fluid.  If it had happened in bed it would have made a huge mess.  But I'm not leaking a ton now, so I am totally second-guessing myself.  I definitely have more dampness down there than usual, and it has a weird sweet/musty smell that is definitely not normal.

Thankfully I am GBS negative, and I checked in with my midwife.  The plan is for me to get as much sleep as I can, and if labor hasn't started yet to go in first thing in the morning to see if it really is amniotic fluid leaking or not.  !!!  I was totally convinced that I was going to go late again with this little one, so I am shocked.  And maybe it isn't amniotic fluid, maybe the baby made a big movement and kicked the urine out of my bladder or a lot of discharge all at once.

I kind of wish I was leaking A LOT so there wouldn't be any doubt, but the baby is really low and engaged so he could just be acting as a cork.  Any positive labor vibes appreciated.  As a matter of fact, I probably need calm-down-and-go-to-sleep vibes even more!

<3 Keep you guys posted!  Hopefully I'll get a nice full night of sleep and you won't hear from me until morning.

Yay!!! Get some sleep mama!
It's so exciting watching and waiting for all these babies to arrive! My good friend just had her 4th yesterday. It was 3 hrs between the time her water broke (mild ctx) to the time her baby was born! smile.gif

Well I slept great, no more big gushes.  Just dampness which is frustrating because I don't know if it's just normal pregnancy discharge or not.  Headed to the midwives now to get check out!

I'd like some of those vibes please!  I used to be paranoid that I'd give birth on the toilet or something, not knowing I was in labor.  But now I'm thinking that wouldn't be so bad.  lol

That's literally what happened to my great grandmother. She claimed she "almost lost [my grandmother] to the toilet." I used to think that sounded terrible, but you know what, I think I could be down with a labor so easy I didn't know it was happening. :D

Good luck, thedenverduo!

Total false alarm. :(

Apparently the tests are not 100% fool proof, but we are pretty sure my water is unbroken.  And I haven't had any contractions or anything else out of the ordinary.  I think the most likely thing is that I was so relaxed and spaced out in the tub and baby nailed me pretty good in the bladder?

No idea.  I am actually really relieved to not be in labor today.  I was just getting used to the idea in case, so I also feel a little disappointed.  But baby is doing great and can keep on cooking for awhile! (:

Ah, bummer!  False alarms are no fun.

well, hang in there - babe is coming soon no matter what -- though soon like tonight is different than soon like a week or two. but still!
