First of all....congratulations!!!
Are you overseas or here-US?
I went through my entire pregnancy while I was in Okinawa, Japan. Neither of our family lived nearby.....US & Australia... so it was a little challenging.
You can find amazing support everywhere. For the entire 9 months we were in suspense because of the possibilty my hubby may be away around my due date. I definetely had to start considering who do I want to be my coach, and thus be in the labor room with me, if my hubby had to go. I took whatever classes Camp Lester had to offer, and since I ike yoga, I looked for yoga classes too. My support system were my friends through my work, neighbours, and these pregnancy classes.
My husband...took awhile to get into the "swing of things" and its mainly because his MOS kept him uber busy. I gave him some of the pregnancy books to read to prepare him. When he was home & his work schedule suited ((**Stars are all aligned ;-) **)) I drag him to some of the classes. As crazy as his schedule was, he only managed to miss one doctors appointment.
What I have done too is created a journal of my experiences...it can be very detailed or random notes like what happened at your doctors appointment....the first time you felt him/her kick! ;-) I email pics of my ultra-sound. What I have done too is forwarned him of how hormonal I may get. LOL. All of it he absorbed and I think from him seeing how I grew & our baby grew and reading what I was going through, it helped him get used to the idea. I know that sounds wierd and it sounds like my hubby was not a great guy. He is a wonderful man and he was happy. He was in shocked LOL, to him, the details of pregnancy and the changes to a woman's body were foreign to him.
I don't know if this helps you at all but if you want to talk/gripe/question/ someone to listen, I am happy to help. :-)
