I know you shouldn't count your chickens before they hatch, but DP and I are TTC our first baby together and I am a little worried as I've never been pregnant before. I had plenty of sex with men as a teenager and young adult, half the time I was on birth control with a laissez- faire attitude about it (I wasn't taking them religiously) and I never got pregnant. Both my mother and my grandmother had more miscarriages than live births so I'm worried that I may have infertility problems, too. Before we shuck out hundreds of dollars for sperm, I want to know that it has a good chance of working. My insurance isn't going to cover any unreferenced fertility specialists so if anyone has experience in this area, please let me know. My mother had some kind of issue with her uterus where it was backwards and I don't know if I have the same issue, I've seen plenty of gynecologists and none of them reported anything out of the ordinary so DP thinks I'm being ridiculous. My mother only has one sibling who chose never to have children due to her mental health issues and my grandmother was an only child, so I have no way of knowing if this is a pervasive issue or not.
