Just went for my 2nd prenatal appointment today at 8w 5d , i am 33 and my doc asked me if i were sure about not wanting to do any chromosomal testing including testing for down syndrome, which has to be done between 11 to 14 weeks. Is that a regular protocol to ask? Does anyone know? This is my third pregnancy but hopefully first pregnancy that will go full term. Does my history of early miscarriages have anything to do with her asking me that. She did say that by law she has to ask every patient, and also disclosed that for women under 35 the likelihood of down syndrome is 1 in 300, my husband and i declined to test. So she proceeded to say "you are just ready to be a mom either way?" Which i thought was strange for her to say, but then again maybe i am being too sensitive.
Are any of you planning to go through all this additional testing? Has anyone already been through it with a previous pregnancy? What does it entail? Not that i will change my mind, about not doing any additional tests, but just curious to know what it entails and if anyone made any major decisions based on the results of these tests.
