Stomach Weirdness?

For those of you who have done this before, or are close to your due date... have you had stomach weirdness as you got close to your due date?

My stomach / guts have been really gurgly. I don't feel sick or anything, I just sound like a ship at sea. I'm trying to figure out if it's just my body reacting to things shifting down there, or if it's unrelated and there's some food I need to cut out of my diet.

It's hard to tell what's a weak uterine contraction and what's coming from my GI system. I've heard of people getting sick to their stomach when they're headed into early labor, but I don't have any other pre-labor signs and I really don't feel ill - just weird.

I don't know if it's a universal thing or not, but I definitely had stomach weirdness the two weeks or so before I gave birth. I chalked it up to the evening primrose oil I was taking, but it could have just been my body preparing itself. Lots of gurgling and churning, oh my.

Gurgling and churning, oh my is right! smile.gif
I've had it later on (36weeks +) both times and it's just showing up now in this pregnancy. To me a lot of it feels like it's from this baby playing martial arts with my gastrointestinal system. Ugh. Lots of stomach flopping, weird and random incidents of nausea, unpredictable bowel issues (the baby kicked me last night really hard and I let out a completely involuntary, very loud and unceremonious fart. Dh was sweet enough to pretend he didn't notice and thankfully it wasn't stinky ;-)). Dignity is seriously overrated in pregnancy apparently. smile.gif

I think it's normal. Plus all the extra blood volume, water, hormones etc...we're all just ticking time bombs of all sorts of bodily functions. ;-)

lol......I haven't had it as much lately...but a couple weeks back my stomach was really noise.

And isn't that the truth about bodily noises lightheated! I remember when I was in the hospital after I had my first. I had my knees bent upward and my feet resting on the bed. And without any warning to me or anyone else for that matter my body decided to let out a loud fart!!! I was sooooooo embarrassed because of the room full of guests! No one told me it took a little while to properly regain full control of your body and it's noises! lol
I have noticed with this pg I have been more gassy and had more indigestion too. I am so eager to have my body back! lol

Ahh you two just made my morning I'm sitting here laughing out loud by myself.

I just think it is so weird that when my stomach gurgles (which is has been doing, a lot) its like up in my chest. Really how odd that our organs are pushed around so much.

I know a lot of women have pretty serious diarrhea just before they go into labor. I really hope that happens to me this time because I would like to avoid the indignity of pooping on the floor again eyesroll.gif

I've been having bouts of nausea, gas, etc. etc. lately too.  It reminds me a lot of the first trimester - I'm completely exhausted all the time and just feel all GI uncomfortable.  Oh, and the raging hormones are back.  After being relatively pleasant for several months now, I feel like I want to rip DH's head off for every little thing he does.  This is my first, so I don't have any prior experience to go on, but it seems like this is pretty normal.  My due date isn't until the end of May... I really don't want to feel like this for a whole month yet.

Yes!  The last couple days my stomach has been feeling like it did when I was first pregnant.  That icky, sour feeling.  Yuck.  And I've had way more gas the last couple days too.  I haven't really been eating anything different either.  So who knows.

could I just be having weird psychosomatic symptoms after reading this thread because my stomach has been feeling really ick all day?!

Well, I'm glad it's common at least. If I was developing a sudden aversion to Mexican food, we were gonna have a problem.

Last night my body decided it all out hates me. Plenty of heartburn, lying on my right side gave me a severe neck cramp (I have a herniated disc), lying on my back made me nauseous, and lying on my left made my hand and left side of my lip go completely numb. Wtf. I spent most of the night in the bathtub trying to convince my neck muscles to relax. Things are OK now, just tired.

I also started to freak out (thanks in part to sleep deprivation) that I was going to go to 42 weeks and have nothing but nights like last night for the next month. Honestly I'm so tired right now, if I went into labor I'd probably try to slow things down so I could take a nap first. And maybe some mild drugs for my neck :/

I still haven't dropped at all, but I'm trying not to worry about it. I'll ask the midwife next week if she thinks there's anything up.

I have had so many nights like that with heartburn and numbness and achy sore hips for the past week or more now. One of the reasons I'm "working from home today" - I really was - but... just took a 1.5 hours nap ;)

yeah last night was the worst in the sleep department!
I don't think I fell asleep until about 5:30 am...just to get back up at 6:30am to get the kids around for school =( ....thankfully I did catch a little nap =S

Last night outside of horrible heartburn, I was hot and sweating like crazy....but didn't want to turn AC on because I knew it would freeze everyone else! And if I turned my leg a certain way my hip would pop and send pain. I just kept tossing and turning and couldn't get to sleep. Perhaps I would have had better chances if I started trying sooner.....with baby coming I really need to break this habit of going to bed so ........early 0_o. I don't think I have seen the bed before 2 am in a few weeks at least. And then of course after a while of tossing and turning and getting up to pee...I don't know that I have fallen asleep before 3:30 or later 0_o

I had a terrible time sleeping last night too!  Weird.  I was so hot and couldn't get comfortable.  Plus heartburn.  I took a Tums and it went away, but then I rolled over and it came back.  WTH?  I spent all night tossing and turning and sweating.  Yuck.

Add me to the list of non sleepers last night.  And, for the same reasons...awful heartburn, sore joints.

And, no one was saying anything in the middle of the night.  My bored and unsleeping self was trying to find something to read on my phone!  Next time, maybe we should all get online and chat all night instead, lol.  Could have been quite the party.

And, to the OP, yes to the funky stomach stuff.  I have the whole morning sickness routine again, and it's wearing me out.  It's probably a hormonal shift causing it?

I was just laying in bed trying to get my three year old to bloody go to sleep already and trying to remember if I felt this nauseated with the other two. Huge food aversions, everything tastes like chalk going down and after I eat a tiny portion I feel nauseated. My stomach is super gurgly, too. I find my chiro appointments really awkward because it's dead quiet in the room EXCEPT for my stomach rumbling and squeaking and god knows what all. Lots of gas again as well.

I definitely got the runs a few days before labour started, which went away the day I had the baby, thank goodness! I don't have that now. Just gurgly/angry tummy.

I am so glad to read this thread, because I have digestive issues anyway, but they've been amazing my entire pregnancy. So when I started having rumblings and nausea and diarrhea, I worried I was going into a Crohn's flare up right before I delivered, which would pretty much guarantee me a C-section, simply because I would be begging for one just for the pain relief...

Between the gas and the nausea, I keep joking that I'm in the first trimester of a second pregnancy with a mysterious uterus!
