Ok, here goes...

Hi! My name is Amber. I am 34 years old. DH and I have been together for 4.5 years, married for 2. We have 1 kid and 1 pet dog. If I was at my favorite restaurant right now I would order either pho or pad see ew but we will actually be having something yet to be determined for dinner tonight.  I work for pay in the mental health field. When I am home with the kid my favorite part of the day is any time I get to spend with my sweet baby since I work outside the home, but I particularly love playing with him on the floor and nursing. My hobbies and interests include knitting, reading, some sewing and flat water kayaking. Hoping to do some gardening this year.


Favorite

Music: It varies. Grateful Dead, Paul Simon, Ani DiFranco, Dar Williams, James Taylor, Neil Diamond (try to contain your laughter), Tracy Chapman, Indigo Girls, Cat Stevens, John Denver. Also love Classical and Celtic.
Movie: I'm not sure.
Book: Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series, Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett,  Happiness is an Inside Job by Sylvia Boorstein, and Tuesdays with Morrie. I love to read.
Season: Spring
Household chore: probably vacuuming, it's pretty satisfying to see the floor look clean. Or maybe laundry, but not the putting it away part.
Cause: I'm not active in anything but I feel strongly in support of marriage equality.
Diaper: Huggies Pure and Natural (which I'm sure are neither pure nor natural, but they don't smell like anything and they have the nifty pee indicator)
Baby carrier: I have a Moby and an Ergo, not sure if I have a favorite yet


If you could change one thing about _____, what would it be?

The world? The pervasive fear based thinking and the violence
Your house? Ants. And I'd like lower mortgage payment. Oh and sidewalks in the neighborhood, but that's not really about my house.
Your parenting? I'm feeling pretty good about my parenting, but I'd give DH more patience if I could.
Your life? I'd be independently wealthy so I wouldn't have to work although I am grateful for my new job. I'd also be less anxious. I'd live somewhere with less traffic.  And I'd figure out what to do with my hair.


What would your best friends say is your best feature? Probably that I'm a good listener, maybe my sense of humor
If a genie gave you three wishes what would you ask for? $ so I wouldn't have to work, good health for my parents, and a weekly massage
Do you have any pet peeves?  People who blindly follow something (i.e. a political stance) and are loud about it, being asked how old I am in a condescending tone (I've always looked young), and when DH leaves doesn't twist the bread bags and put the fastener back on.
Where would you go on a dream vacation? Italy
Where is the best place you've been? England and Scotland

Oh gosh I have so many questions!  It's so great to get to know you better, first of all.  Secondly, I feel like we have a lot in common just based on this list.  Finally, I will get to more questions later when I have more time!

Why on earth do you want to have to untie your bread every single time you need a piece(or, your husband and I would get along fine) ;-)

I've done a variety of things, including case management and counseling.

And the ant problem is the primary reason I want the bread closed up tightly.

Haha, ants are a good reason. I see a twist tie and go, "Do I really want bread THAT much?"

What kind of schedule do you work?

What does your husband do?

Uh, oh, maybe I'm hampering his bread consumption (maybe that's not a bad thing). DH is a kind of an admin assistant. I work 5 six hour days with varying hours right now.

I'm so not a listen to music type of person, but when I do, I like most your music list, which is really rare for me!  As for books, I've only read Tuesdays with Morrie off your list and now I'm wondering if I would like all the books you love as well!  What did you like most about the two series you mentioned?

Nice to meet you too! My trip to England and Scotland was an extension of a college trip to study theater for a week.

Not sure on the more kids. I've always wanted 2 but I cannot imagine another child right now. I just want to devote all my energy to this one. So we'll see.

I have a lab.

The books I listed have pretty much nothing in common with each other except being well written. Diana Gabaldon's series has great storylines and wonderful characters. It centers around a woman who accidentally travels back in time (that idea turned me off at first but it was worth getting into) in Scotland. Plus they're huge books which I need because I read crazy fast. Michael Connelly's books are police murder mysteries that don't get too graphic (my tolerance for gore has decreased over the last few years). The main character is flawed but a great detective. What I like best about those is that it took 11 books before I figured out who "did it" and then the next few I haven't been able to figure out.

How do you keep all your clothing folded and put away?  I am failing at a good system here.  It takes days because we do things one step at a time. Ha!  (Our laundry room is not attached, though we live in a house.  It's weird.)

Will you post a photo of your hair?   We could all give advice.  That probably sounds like a really awful idea, right?  BUT IT WOULD BE FUN FOR ME!!  

I don't twist the bread tie back on either.....  

Who is your favorite Beatle?  If you don't like the Beatles, you can just tell us your celeb crush.  OR BOTH!

Hey-that's ok. There's so many pho places around here, but one makes it with a tofu and a bunch of veggies (no yucky bell peppers ), yum. Although I'm omnivore so I could go with chicken pho. But that's not what we're talking about

I don't have any kind of system for laundry. I do mine and the baby's and DH does his own so that cuts down on it. I'm not sure why we do it that way, it's just always been. I usually put the baby to play on the floor while I put away his clothes. Mine I just do as quickly as possible.

I could post a pic of my hair but there's not much to be done with it right now, it needs to grow. Actually,  I'd like my hair to look like yours from the pics you've posted.

I am growing my hair out a bit right now, too!  I have a goal in mind, which is helping because right now it is in that awkward flip-happy stage.  I like Jennie Garth's current haircut (just above the shoulders) so I keep finding photos of her and remembering that it will, in fact, get there.  

And why in the world would anyone put bell peppers in pho?!

Our bread molds before it has a chance to dry out.

We keep our bread in the fridge so it doesn't mold :-)  I know people say it dries out in there but I have never found that to be the case.  Maybe we go through it too fast

Yep, we had to do the same thing in humid climates.  Or keep it in the freezer and just thaw or toast when we needed it.  It's a lot easier to make grilled cheese with frozen bread!
