Hi everyone, thanks for your responses.
The age given for the ultrasound was NOT based on LMP at all and is not the gestational age. It was based solely on the measurement of the embryo, and the measurement was also given on the sonogram. The measurement given for the embryo (3.5cm) would indeed indicate an age of 10W. That is why I think the measurement itself is wrong.
My gestational age, from LMP, would have given an age of only 9.5W at that time, anyway. That is why I was so concerned about this ultrasound. I know that the gestational age is calculated from the LMP and that's usually two weeks prior to ovulation/conception for most women (not for me probably, but for most).

Gosh, I hope that this is the case with me! SO and I are both quite tall people so it's rather expected that our child will be tall as well.

FWIW, my OB basically accused me of cheating on my DH with my first, as I was out of state when the baby would have been conceived according to the ultrasound measurement. What really happened was that I ovulated the weekend I came home and we conceived then. Both of my boys have measured ahead of dates, and I chart, so I know they're accurate. Sounds like something similar is happening in your case. Hope your doc can explain that to your SO.
Yikes, I can't believe an OB would accuse someone of cheating. That's crazy. But I'm glad I'm not the only one who has gone through this. I've finally gotten SO to believe my story (I've done so much research online to "prove" my side) and everything seems to be okay. If anything I will do a paternity test for him after the baby is born, though I hope it doesn't come to that. It's relieving to know that the fetus can measure larger than expected.

I don't know when I normally ovulate, as I have never charted these things, however it wouldn't have been half a week, it would have been 10 days after the first day of my period if I conceived on the day I believe I did. That is probably not average, but my cycle is only 26 days long, and highly irregular (I'm in peri-menopause right now) so ovulation would likely occur about 11-13 days after my LMP. It's entirely possible that it happened even earlier (8 days after my LMP) - though unlikely, I also know people have unlikely pregnancies all the time.
Given that I'm in China and the ultrasound was one of literally hundreds that the technician had already done that day (I waited five hours in line), I'm not ruling out that she made a mistake. However I'm rather reluctant to go back and have the ultrasound done again as it was a hassle of epic proportions. Getting these things done on China is definitely not like having them done in other countries. So I guess we'll just wait and see what happens with the baby - maybe it's just a big one. But SO has finally calmed down, so everything should be cool.
