Pregnant or is period just off

I had my son 7 months ago and started my cycle again at 6 months. I was and am still breastfeeding. I had a normal 5 day period 1 month ago. I was sposed to start my cycle 9 days ago and haven't yet. I did a test and it came back negative but that still doesn't ease my fears. We use protection and once he went in without a condom but then put it on. Other then that, I am not taking chances. Is it normal to have strange cycles after you start again or should I retest. I really am praying and hoping I am not. I have a 2 year old and 7 month old and trying to finish collage still. I have heard tests can be wrong and show a false neg. I am hungry all the time and i feel like I am about to start but haven't. Any hope that it is just off? :) Thanks

There was another thread on here the other day about this... several mommas, myself included, have experienced a kind of breakthrough period and then nothing for a few months. Or cycles can be longer too.

Awesome! With my first, it went straight back to normal after 1st cycle. This one is different and it made me worry. :)
