Hi everybody,

We are from France and since we arrived i try to cook for my family but i just know french recipe with french ingredients and where we lives it's very hard to find, I may substitute some other foods but has not often.

So I'm looking for easy heathy recipe that i can cook here with US ingredients easy to find.

We usually schedule one of the menus has semaine.Mon husband works in a factory, he changes his team (morning or after noon) every two semaines.Nous then eat the same thing in two consecutive meals.

We are not very difficult at food.

Maybe we can also use this post to post our menus, we ca give ideas (here, the menus do not really vary from one week to another)

My husband is American but is an extremely talented French chef. Here are some great ideas for a meal for your family - we have no problems finding the ingredients here:

Potato Leek Soup
Quiche and Salad
Boeuf Bourguignon over pasta and add carrots to the stew for a veggie
Coq au Vin with potatoes

I've found some good recipes on http://www.food.com/ or http://www.kalynskitchen.com/.

This week's menu at our house:

1. pancakes and eggs- kind of an emergency meal as we had not gone food shopping

2. gyros with tzatziki sauce and french fries- a family favorite!

3. Mexican Potato Bake- dd didn't eat it and dh thought it would be better as a side dish

4. Cheese ravioli  with garlic bread and salad- everyone was happy with this. :)

5. Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes, baked beans and corn

6. Pulled Pork sandwiches with pasta salad

7. Minestrone and bread- another family favorite!

We do a lot of beans in our house, either in soup, over rice, or for Mexican dishes.  Some things we make pretty frequently are....

Gallo pinto (a Nicaraguan dish with beans, rice, and peppers)

Pasta e fagioli

Chicken soup

Pasta...with red sauce, with oil and garlic, with sardines and capers, etc.

Macaroni and cheese

Burritos (usually just bean, rice, salsa, avocado)

Chicken or beef and broccoli stir-fry

Chili (usually vegetarian, sometimes beef and bean)

I absolutely love the Cook's Country and Cook's Illustrated magazines, although the recipes are sometimes a bit complex.

For veggie sides, we often do:

Spinach salad with thin-sliced cucumber, red onion, and feta

Kale, blanched then sauteed with garlic

Broccoli, also blanched and quick-sauteed with garlic and crushed red papper

Roasted vegetables, often cauliflower, asparagus, brussell sprouts, or zucchini

Green beans, simmered until tender, drained, and mixed with olive oil, salt and pepper, served room-temp

Carrots, simmered with onions and chicken broth

Corn on the cob (yum!) OR cut off the cob, sauteed in butter with salt and pepper

I love those ideas. Now to make me a list of meals to try out and plan
