What did you get for Mother's Day everyone?  DH bought me some beautiful flowers and new gardening tools.  I also got a homemade card from him and the kids.  I hope you all have a wonderful day!

I got a new iPhone case... it's sooo pretty! Also, some chocolate, body wash and lotion, and cards from everyone. Dsd wrote in her card that I am the best mom ever and she is so glad that I am her mom.  Dd2 wrote me a lovely poem with a lot of nice things. I managed not to cry... they hate it when I cry! 

It's also dsd's 15th birthday today! Driving, here we come!

Happy mothers day guys!

On friday while I was at a LLL meeting my husband pulled the rhododendron bush I hated out and planted a japanese maple in its place. I love it, it looks so much better and it was super thoughtful of him. My kids each made gifts- my son made an apron and made flowers out of his hand prints, and my oldest daughter made me a hand print mold of her hand.

As I had this wonderful mothers day I remembered my first mothers day with my ex when I was 18. We had a fight and he threw his wedding ring out the window :/ oh how far my life has come!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

I got some drawings from DD, a trip to my favorite farm, promises to clean my car next weekend, and DD and DH worked on finishing up our backyard garden beds for me!  They planted lavender, hosta, echinacea, some gorgeous shrubs with white and green leave and red stems (don't know the name...), as well as two beautiful herb pots.  I'll post a picture when the mulch is in.

Another super awesome Mother's Day weekend present arrived from the electric company.  Our bill was $20 for the month of April.  Woo-hoo!

I'm glad that everyone has had a wonderful Mother's Day! 

Mine has pretty much been as crappy as it gets.  My DH had a manic psychotic break and I had to call the police on him yesterday morning.  He has spent the last 2 days in an ER and tonight he gets transferred to a psychiatric ward in a different hospital.  He'll probably have to be there about a week, but we won't know until they start evaluating him.  My MIL gets here tonight (she bought a flight asap when she found out), so I will have some help this week.  Hopefully he'll be able to get the right help and be able to come home.  Only time will tell though.  Does anyone here have experience with severe manic depression?  Can you give me some encouragement?

ETA:  My dh wasn't being violent at all, just super crazy and needed help.  The only thing I knew to do was to call the police.  He would have never come with me to the hospital, as he thought he was fine.

Oh my gosh, Abra. I am so sorry! I have no experience with that. Has he suffered with bipolar disorder for a long time? Is this an ongoing issue or a new thing? Has this happened before? Wow. Major hugs to you. I know growing up my mom had to be hospitalized several times, some voluntary some not. She ended up being fine after a while with the right medication and therapy. That's the only experience I really have.

Oh, Abra, what a crappy mother's day. I hope he gets all straightened out soon. Half my family are bipolar and they keep to the manic end of the spectrum. I have no advice at all, but lots of hugs.

Thanks guys.  My dh has always had a lot of mood swings and he's had a few mild manic eppisodes over the years, but never anything close to this.  I just hope that he's able to get some help and return to normal.  I'll know more in a few days.

My mothers day was fine. Kids made cards and my hubby told me my mothers day gift is he will hire a house cleaner to come out one time to do a good deep clean. As the past few mothers days I'm lucky to get a card, I was pretty blown away by this!

Do any of you have an umbrella stroller youn can recommend? Wanting to keep it in the $65-75 range. Needs to recline enough for a 5 month old who isn't sitting up. Going to a plane trip to CO in June.

My mother's day was great-  The boys wrote me a card. My 3yo can write letters and he wrote I LOVE YOU.  I sobbed.  It was the sweetest thing ever.

We went to brunch at my fave restaurant, then went on a 4 mile hike!  It was a lot of fun!

SO sorry Abra, I wish I had advice!

I had a lovely Mother's Day. I got to sleep in, since DD was in bed late the night before and then slept until 9! Dh made me a yummy breakfast and then we went out to a beautiful park and beach with another family, and ended the day with a nice pizza picnic in the park. DH and DD made a painting for me. 

I'm so sorry Abra, I wish I had some great advice for you.

Oh Abra!  You have had such a hard time recently!  Whooping cough, new job for your dh, nerve issues, colds, and now this!  I don't have any advice to offer either, but wanted to lend my support.  Big, big ((HUGS)).

Kali, we actually have never owned an umbrella stroller, but have traveled by plane extensively with the kids.  I personally wouldn't recommend a stroller for the airport, favoring a carrier and checking the car seat instead.

Kali, house cleaning, dreamy! I have decided that would be the perfect new baby gift, in general. Strollers, we have a basic, $15 one from a big box store. Enoch will probably be sitting before June and he will sit well enough for a regular unbrella stroller even if he isn't, they have a slight recline anyway. With 5 kids I would totally take a stroller. You can hang diaper bags, snack bags and all kinds of stuff on it and set things in it when you need to.

Kali, are you visiting friends or family in Colorado?  Does someone there have a stroller you could borrow?  We just never found a stroller helpful in an airport and my little kids rarely enjoyed being in a stroller for any length of time when out and about, but yours may be different.  Traveling with kids just requires so much stuff that having one less item to lug around the airport can be preferable, especially when you need to hold your other children's hands.

It will just be me flying with Enoch, and I will bring the ergo too but in Colorado there will be six kids (my three plus my sisters three) and lots of parks to walk to so we will want a stroller. I had a cheap umbrella stroller and it was awful and I just want to spend a bit more to get one that works.

Ispoke too soon, enoch now has five teeth!!
