I left my 14 month old in the competent care of my husband for the first time last week to go on a business trip from Thursday - Sunday. Prior to the trip, he still nursed heavily in the early hours of the morning and a small snack during the day and at night. I had stopped pumping around 11 months and simply nursed him, packing up our bottles, etc. For the trip, I pulled out the pump but could only pump enough for the first two days, so my husband gave him WCM after that.
Since returning he wants to nurse constantly. He crawls into my lap every 20 minutes or so and demands to nurse. We went on an errand yesterday and he was pulling at my shirt to nurse while in the store - something he has never done. He is barely eating his food in favor of nursing. I've had to pull out the breastmilk I pumped while away and feed him in my lap with a bottle because my nipples are being ripped up by this constant nursing (I had planned to freeze it in case there are any future business trips so we have enough).
It's like he has regressed back to the amount of nursing he did when he first started solids around 7 months. What gives? Is this normal?
