smoothest homemade play-do/clay recipe?

I'm doing a craft workshop for about 30 little kids, and all my play-dough recipes seem too chunky. We will be making handprints and pressing beads into the dough for decoration. Does anyone out there have a recipe for a dough that has a smoother texture (more like clay, less like play-dough) but can air dry in a decent amount of time? TIA!

One thing I've noticed with homemade play dough is that the more you knead it while it's still hot the smother to dough. So after you finish cooking it dump it out on the counter and work it with you hands untill it cools down a bit.
