So, yesterday my textbook-boring pregnancy got a little more interesting. My blood pressure has spiked and now they're concerned I'm developing preeclampsia. Nothing is set in stone yet, I'm going back tomorrow for some follow-up tests, but the word induction came up. Basically, since I'm at 39 weeks anyway, if it looks like it is indeed preeclampsia they'll want to induce. Bleh.
Induction is pretty much last on the list of things I want to happen. Hell, I think I'd be less freaked out by a c-section than induction. Of course, everyone I know who was induce ended up with an emergency c-section anyway.
With an induction, my option to use the birthing suite at the hospital goes out the window, though the midwife tried to reassure me that even if I'm induced she'll help me have a wonderful experience. But suddenly I'm seeing myself hooked up to an IV, monitor strapped to me, on my back, and getting an epidural. Not what I want, at all.
In theory I'd still be free to move around, etc with an induction, they don't have any stupid rules against it, but I know my options for moving around will be restricted just by the reality of having an IV and monitor on me.
I could really use some positive induction stories right about now... has anyone had one that went well? Or managed to have otherwise unmedicated labor post-induction?
