The Name Game...

Yeah I know it's early :D

I'm having a hard time with name ideas this time around honestly, just not connecting strongly with any. Here's what I have so far (hubby isn't really chiming in yet lol):

Boy:

Jude (all I have for now lol)

Girl:

Aria

Lyric

Carys

I have nada for middle names :P

C'mon ladies, distract me from my misery!

Dang, those are all beautiful names! Maybe you need to have quadruplets? winky.gif

I haven't really thought about names other than writing down Juniper on a scrap of paper a couple weeks ago. I need to dig out our list of leftover names from DS....

Ugh, names! faint.gif Dh and I never, ever decide until after our babies have been born. It's so weird!  We barely even talk about names my whole pregnancy. We are getting better though, because we actually discussed names last summer when we weren't even expecting a baby. But now I don't like any of those names! lol.gif

Ooh I love the name Aria! It actually happens to be on my list too although a friend just used that name so it probably is coming off..

My two top girl names right now are Liera and Florence.  We only have one boy name as well - Owen.

I think we may wait until they make their appearance to settle on anything.

I love Carys!  It's on my personal short list of girl names, but I don't think DH will go for it.  For a girl, he is absolutely set on Penelope June.  That way she will share his initials and can be his "lucky Penny."  It's very sweet, but I'm not connecting with it so far...It probably won't be an issue because, though I had a girl feeling early on, now I think we will probably have another boy.  I guess that could change month to month.

I'm kinda the opposite- I have 2 girl names and 2 boys names (and have loved them for a while) and I want to have 4 more just so I can use those names!  Ha- just kidding, but I am so passionate about names and it's one of my favorite parts about having a baby!  We do not talk about our names with anyone IRL, but since this is anonymous...

Girls:  Genevieve and Evelyn (I think those would be awesome names for girl twins) if this is a girl I don't know which our first choice would be.

Boys:  Grady and Elliott  (If this is a boy we will be naming him Grady William... 99% sure.) and if we have another boy someday it will be Elliott David (my husband is David, and our compromise was using it as a middle name- he wanted a namesake.  I won't budge on that one.)

Ooh, I love name threads. It's never too early for us to start talking about names :-)

Marylin we also have Jude on our boy list and Lyric on our girl list. I was actually completely sure that DD was going to be Lyric and I called her Lyric all the way through. DH wasn't totally convinced but he was coming around. Then she was born and it just didn't suit her at all :-( So its back in our list but DH is less keen now and it doesn't really go with DDs name so unless she's born wearing a label which says "my name is lyric" I think it will remain a dream for me.

Our top girls name ATM is Erienne Willow. Also on the list are

Adaline
Gabriella
Freya (also from last time)
Holly (middle name)

Boys are really hard for us. We have

Jude
Luca
Elias (although I don't love this one)
and Leif, my favourite but DH can't stand it so it's only there for my fantasizing purposes only

Last time we had two names picked, Lyric Rose and Freya Juliet, and the plan was to see which suited her best when she was born. It didn't exactly work out that way but I think we'll aim for the same thing this time as well. At least it gives us a place to start.

One of the nice things about having multiple kids is that you can recycle favorite names. From the last two kids I still liked Augustine (Auggie) and Imogene.

And we have a Freya. =)

I LOVE name threads!

Marilyn and Kate - my cousin is Connor Jude. Love how those names go together.

Last time, we had a boy's name set, but a girl's name was really hard. This time, we (well, I) know what girl's name I want, but a boy's is going to be trouble. It doesn't help that we're both in education: there are perfectly nice names that we have to cross off our list b/c of past associations with students.

I love Talia but my not pregnant, TTC, or married/engaged/involved SIL claimed it and DH doesn't want to use it b/c it's "hers." Sigh. My other favorite is Arielle, which has the added bonus of a cool meaning. ("Ari" is "Lion" in Hebrew. Since this baby will be a VBAC, I like the idea of giving my daughter a strong name). Middle name will be Hope after my grandmother.

Boys names: I love Daniel, but DH does not. Also love Jack but it's very common around here. I like Levi but DH says it reminds him of Bristol Palin's ex. irked.gif   He likes Cooper, but it's not my style. Current frontrunner is Samuel, which also has a lovely meaning ("Gift from G-d"). Kind of perfect for a baby that was an unexpected blessing. Middle name, no matter what we pick, will be Henry.

That's a good way to look at it. I almost feel bad using a "recycled" name. DD was almost Abigail, but we changed our minds right before she was born. Now I wonder how we could name another daughter that, when we didn't love it enough to give to our firstborn.

Aw thanks :D It's funny because I always get so much flack (flac? flak? lol) from family about my name choices, so I love the kudos. Juniper is a suuuper cute name actually and I've never met anyone with that name either which is a bonus...but it doesn't sound made up either. So hey, maybe your work is already done haha.

Lol great minds think alike! Funny because neither of those are really popular or anything. I just wanted to tell you I LOVE Erienne, sooo pretty. Very original too.

I kind of like Ryan as a girls name but my Ex DH's first name was Ryan so that kind of ruins it for me lol. Actually his middle name was Levi (which is what everyone called him) which I think is a great name too but obviously can't (and wouldn't want to) use it. An old friend named her daughter Alida (long I sound) which I think is really pretty as well.

MrsM - Samuel is a great classic and underrated name IMO :D

So far hubby has suggested: Brogan (so we can call him "Bro")...ha.ha.very.funny. My husband's name is Jack Walton and he is the third so if we have a boy and name it Jack Walton, the suffix would be esquire. I know his dad is going to hate me for not using it but it's not my style...lol. I actually don't think Jack is a bad name at all but it just doesn't match my others :P

We had the girl name picked out before we even started TTC.  The boy name came about a week before we got the positive... we had the initials, but just couldn't lock down actual names.

Girl: Marianna Hali'a

My grandmother, who was very, very influential in my life, was lost in 2008.  Her name was Mary Ann, and I wanted to honor her.  Marianna came out of her name.  Hali'a came along for a couple of reasons.  Myself and my one female cousin have Hawaiian middle names (our parents grew up in Hawaii, and I was born there), so I knew I wanted to continue the tradition.  Hali'a loosely translates to "in honor of" or "in memory of".  Perfect for what I wanted.  What made it better was that I was able to share the chosen name with my grandmother a few months before she passed.

Boy: Devereaux Garrett

My FIL, who I unfortunately didn't get to spend a lot of time with, passed away in 2006.  After the girl's name came together, we decided to use FIL's initials if it were a boy.  But finding a 'D' and 'G' name that we liked and went well together proved to be quite the challenge.  Devereaux was a character's name in a book series I read, and the name just stuck with me.  Hubby was unsure at first, but warmed up to it.  Garrett joined the picture a few days before the positive test.  We both liked the combo and locked it in.

If/When we have a 2nd and it's the same sex as the first, we'll swap the initials around (girl = DG, boy = MA).

LOVE all these names--seriously! You all have great taste ;)

We have a few, but one or both of us will likely change our minds twenty times in the next 30 weeks!

Girl:

Magnolia

Pomeline

we need MN help for these!

Boy:

Felix Drake

Sebastion Jude

Everyone's ideas are great!!! I have some stipulations for naming so it limits my choices which can be a good thing and a bad thing. All my kids have first names that are of Irish/Scottish/Celtic/Gaelic origin bc that is the most important parts of my heritage to me. They also all have the letter R and all start with different letters and end with different sounds. Not much right, lol?! Middle names have no rhyme or reason for the most part but my 3rd daughter got my aunt's name as her middle name bc my aunt had passed away while I was pg and my youngest has two middle names and one is my husband's bc he insisted so we compromised, haha!

My ideas so far (but haven't told dh bc he hates to discuss too early)...

Girl-
Torrance
Harper
Norah
Tierney
Darcy

Boy-
Oscar (no one liked this last time but I still do)
Hurley
Monroe

Murphy
Patterson
Patrick
Trey

Haven't thought much about middle names except for Daniel (which I don't love but it's for my cousin for a variety of reasons) or Brenna in honor of my Aunt Brenda. My other kids are Cameron Blair. Rileigh Grace, Brody Matthew, Keera Rose, & Griffin Piers Robert :-)

Because I had 2 recent miscarriages and took a while to get pg this time we really feel like this child is a gift from God (well, of course, we feel that way about all children).  Because of that we will be naming this child Theodore or Theodora.  We haven't talked much about middle names yet, but I do like the sound of Theodore Joseph.

We were toying with Hali'a (though I didn't realize there was an apostrophe until your post) for my DD's middle, also for the meaning. I needed an "H" name for my grandma. It didn't sound right with our Jewish last name though, so we went in a different direction and saved the H for this baby. I still love it.

with DD we didn't pick a name until after she was born, with DS we had his name picked before the 20 week u/s. I think I have a girl name for this one, but we haven't discussed it much yet, so it could change. pretty sure it's a girl, so I haven't even thought about boy names.

Oh, I don't look at it that way at all. We loved al the names on the list. When we saw the baby for the first time, we just knew the right name for "that baby." It wasn't like one us had a strong preference for the name we chose and tolerated the others. We do have one name we love on this list that we won't keep on the list. We know THREE! kids with that name plus have a dozen others at the park. (variatons on Max)

Our DS is Sebastian Felix. joy.gif Jude was also on our list for him.

This time we're playing with totally different boys names:
August and Gulliver are our two frontrunners.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Milo but my DP HATES it equally.

For girls, we have always said we'd name a daughter Francesca and call her Frankie. I do however want to have some other names on the list, just in case. (Afterall, we were sure we'd call DS Finn, and we didn't!)
We both really like Clementine and Stella.

But nothing is set in stone yet!
