meds for teething

How common is it to give acetaminophen or ibuprofin for teething pain? I am always scared to give such a small body pain meds! I've known parents who gave tylenol to help their babies sleep at night. I've tried Hyland's tablets and ice to suck on. The ice does the trick for mine.

I try hylands and other methods first (we use an amber teething necklace) but if she's still in pain I give her Tylenol or ibuprofen (usually ibuprofen). I don't see a reason to make her suffer rather than give her a medication that even dr sears says is safe to use around the clock.

I do like PP mentioned. I go through my list of teething relief and if nothing else works, I give a half dose of ibuprofin. If it isn't helping 30 min later, I give the other half dose, but this has happened only once.

Same here, minus the necklace.

When my kids were in pain, I had no problem giving tylenol and the like.  It didn't happen very often that they were so miserable that they needed it, and it helped.

I use tylenol and ibuprofen for my own and my kids pain.  Teething was clearly painful for my older daughter.  I assume it will be the same with my younger.
