yea, my water has never broken before labor so really chances of having it break and then having a prolapse cord are so slim... but my other kids were both engaged before labor too...late nights + google + no work to keep me busy is just asking for trouble! Thanks for being so sweet and comforting as always ladies! Rozzie, like you said, I am going to spend some time in all-fours position, on the ball, etc. to try and help the positioning.

Yay for people losing the mucous plug! I lost mine a couple weeks ago...but last night I lost some more. It was blood tinged mucous but not much of it so I am not even sure it was the plug, actually. Just hopeful that *something* is happening.

Polish, I did an enema for the first time ever on my EDD in hopes of getting things going. I was a little scared too, but it was actually no big deal at all. It made me poop but no cramps or contractions or anything else. Kind of disappointing lol!

Ok, 2 things here (yes, I know I'm thread crashing, since I'm not overdue yet)...

It's not FALSE labor.  It's PRACTICE labor.  Do not discourage yourself by calling it "false" - it is actually doing something to help move things along, even if it doesn't feel that way.  I wanted to punch my MW when she called my 4 straight days of labor before "active labor" false, cause there was nothing false about it.  hug2.gif

Have you considered seeing a chiro?  My labor with DS did this, and it turned out he was malpositioned.  If i had gotten myself to a chiro I probably could have saved myself days of labor just by helping him get into a better position (his head was just at the wrong angle).

Thanks, Cristeen!  I needed to hear that... I thought my baby was on her way on Tuesday and didn't go into work, which made all my co-workers fixated on when I was having the baby, asking how I was feeling, texting me to see if there was any news, etc....only to have my contractions die down.  I felt so sheepish saying it'd been false labor (and it really didn't seem to honor the experience to use that terminology either), so your preferred term "practice labor" really resonates!

My due date was yesterday 5/9 (well, the 2nd of my two dates.... the state of CA says it was Monday, 5/7 from my genetic screening testing) so I've just become past due :)  My last preg I went 8 days beyond my due date, so I think I'm just a "long gestator".  On the other hand, I had a midwife appt yesterday and got the good news that my baby is significantly lower than she was last week.  It's a step.  I don't usually dilate or lose my plug in advance, so I'm not really waiting for those signs.  Reading everyone's posts & updates has been really helping pass the time and keeping me connected to a community of women who are experiencing the same things!

Oh, and I agree, I think chiropractic care is what helped my baby get into the correct position after weeks of concern that it was going to be an issue (concern from midwives, not from me).  I am definitely a believer that chiro helps!  So does sitting on a yoga ball :)

I just had the NST, and baby is perfect, had a whopper contraction during the test, and you are right, it isn't false labor, but practice! I am 3-4 cm dilated and continue to have good pressure waves, so baby will likely be here tomorrow or tonight!  It is just kind of irregular... I could go in and have them break my water right now, but that just sounds painful.  I prefer to labor with the cushion of the water, and since I am getting good pressure waves right now, I will just keep up the walking and hopefully things will continue!

Last night I swore that we were on our way to the hospital... but then was able to sleep a bit and everything was still irregular. But it is being super productive and so I'll just let it happen.

I'm still pregnant! 41w today. I had a couple painful contractions in the car last night and then nothing. I'm staying in today except for a short walk in the neighborhood. I just need a day with no expectations.

I have acupuncture scheduled tomorrow morning. I'm looking forward to the relaxation, at the very least. I think I'll take a hot shower now and let my hair dry in the wonderful sun we have today.

yeah, say no to late night, extra time with no work, and google!  I've been watching episodes of teen mom and other mindless TV (although that show is better then I originally thought it would be).... so I don't google stuff.... ((hugs)) hang in there!

Been seeing Chiro for weeks. I have been doing spinning babies and the birth ball and lunges too. Done all I can really. I know it's doing something you are right! I'm like 6cm dilated so I am about there. Thinking the baby will end up being a UC...

My first EDD was Sunday and I can't believe how frustrated I am about not having a baby yet. I know when I ovulated and that puts my actual EDD at the 15th, so why did I psych myself out for the early u/s date of the 6th? Dumb, dumb. :-( Part of the problem is that I had strong, regular contrax all day last Thursday and really felt like that was the day. Now that I look back, I had made a strong infusion of RRL tea the night before and mixed it with juice in a water bottle that I drank all morning...could that have induced such strong contractions that sustained over a period of hours? I feel so silly for convincing myself that the baby was coming!

This week I've felt fine, just like I have for the past month. Literally no symptoms of pregnancy other than a HUGE belly. Went to the zoo this morning with dd and was on my feet for hours and I'm not even tired. No downward pressure, no swollen ankles. Who knew that would be disappointing??? I started EPO a few days ago but am not really feeling like this baby is ready to come out. It's just weird because we spent all weekend frantically doing last-minute preparations because we were so sure we would have a baby by Monday!

Oh, and I'm off work now too. It seemed like a small risk to start my maternity leave on Friday, but now I feel like I bet against the house and lost! I'm really enjoying my time with dd, but have the nagging pressure in the back of my mind that each day now is one less day that I'll have at home with the baby in the fall...

I've been lurking on this thread for awhile, in denial. I'm only 40+3 so I feel bad about feeling bad, ya know? My midwife did a (rather unexpected) "stretch and sweep" of my 1cm dilated, not very effaced cervix on Tuesday. blush.gif Then she said "I saw some bloody show, so you will probably see that today." Which I did, but seems silly to count it as "bloody show" when it results from someone poking around your cervix! Started doing EPO capsules to the cervix that night as well, and started losing my mucus plug last night. It ain't much, but at least it's nice to feel like something is happening aside from all these wacko contractions that never seem to head anywhere productive. One of the first graders in my building told me several weeks ago "Babies aren't late or early, they come when they are ready!" and I'm trying to remember her wise, adorable words.

Hugs to you all, and may you successfully avoid discouraging and annoying people badgering you!

Awww polish!, I know how stressful it is to feel like you're on a timeline ~ I hope your baby comes before 42 weeks!!!!

As for me...I could tell baby was still oblique and not engaged this morning so I took my daily 1000mg of epo & set out to the park w DH & DS2. Light BH ctx started & carried on for a few hours & then all of the sudden they were INTENSE pressure waves & coming 1-2 min apart! I could still feel his head over at my hip so we headed to the hospital. 2 hrs later baby Deacon was born!

It turns out that the reason for his oblique positioning & difficulty engaging was that his cord was wrapped twice very very tight around his neck. He was purple & floppy @ first but recovered quickly & is nursing like a champ.

He was born @ 6:24pm. It is now 3am and I know I should sleep (Deacon is sound asleep!) but i just can't sleep!! I'm watching him sleep & checking MDC from my phone :-)

Full birth story & pics to come soon!

Congrats, Meredith! Looking forward to those photos :)

40+6. I felt POSITIVE that last night would be it, for sure for sure, I was up late with coffee and sugar just like my other two babies and had a night out with friends. It was lovely, and then I started getting some contractions on and off and I felt... weird, somehow...

and yet- no baby.

Midwife called yesterday, she's booked me in for a non-stress and regular appointment next Wednesday (41+3) and a BPP after that. My husband has decided to start his leave already, so he'll be home to watch the kids. I REALLY don't want to get that far. Why isn't there some tried-and-true method of natural induction? One that actually WORKS? Tell me THAT.

Great job Meredith! So awesome that Deacon is finally here - his head finally off of your hip and in your arms :)

Yeah, even if I go my May 5th for my guess date instead of Apr 25th (which is obviously now WAY off, haha!!!) I am still more pregnant than I've ever been.  The 'most pregnant' I was before this was 40 +6 (by like an hour, he came at 1am.  Which is what I'm at today.  No signs of anything.   I do feel waves a bit at night, but nothing serious.  If I'm still pregnant on Wednesday we're going to have to start talking about ultrasounds and stuff since I am 'way off from the normal curve' apparently.  Bleh.  Come out baby!!!  Luckily I am not stuck to the 42 week limit, but I just am READY READY READY!

NST and AFI scheduled for Monday afternoon, got some attitude while I was scheduling it (the receptionist implied that I was putting my baby in danger by not doing it earlier. thanks, receptionist!) my midwife doesn't think I'll actually make it to that appointment - I hope she's right! acupuncture was awesome this morning, I felt some pretty great contractions and some cramping but they eventually went away. I got a migraine with aura (second time ever, both in pregnancy) probably because of some hormonal shifts. the plan is to go to acupuncture every day.

I feel completely ready to go. come on, baby!
