Anxiety issues in my 6 year old

Looking for advice...my 6 year old son "B" is deathly afraid of flies, bees, mosquitos...etc. He wants to come out and play but his fear keeps him from even stepping into our backyard. Any suggestions on how to help the little guy?

As for a brief hx on him, he was adopted through DSS. Drug effected as a newborn. Diagnosed with ADHD-conbine type. has a speech/language disorder, and until now mild anxiety. Although this new issue is really focused on bugs. 

We have tried educating him on insects/bugs and their benefits, bug spray, and even the use of a fly swatter while outside. His fear makes him SO SAD. He wants so badly to just play outside with his brother and sister (and friends).

I recommend the book "Your Anxious Child" by Dacey & Fiore - it's usually available through interlibrary loan.  It explains how to treat anxiety, panic attacks and phobias in a 4 step process based on cognitive-behavioral therapy.  Everything in it is play-based and attachment-based.  You're going to need a lot of creativity to help your son work through this.  Last year I wrote this blog article explaining how I treated my son's panic attacks and phobias at home.
