Can you help me choose some heat-resistant varieties for "cutting" flowers?

The only tough part is that I'm near Phoenix. :)  I forget my exact zone but...it's hot.

 

I love to have fresh flowers in the house but I'd like to grow them myself to save money.  I successfully grow a few veggies and herbs but I've never grown flowers, if you don't count the ones built into our desert landscaping (and they're bushes really..nothing I can cut and stick in a vase!).  Thanks!!

I'm in zone 7 - central NC - so it's hot here in mid-summer.  I've always had great success direct seeding zinnias.  They grow all summer, continuing to put out blooms as you cut the flowers, until frost kills them.  I have tried several varieties like "Benary's Giant Mix" at Johnny's Selected Seeds.   They are gorgeous in a large patch - like a 4'x10' rectangle.  Good luck!
