Today was my doctor's appointment. I was all prepared for a huge battle, and instead... he absolutely agrees with me. We're inducing on the 16th. (The one day I really didn't want to have this baby... but I'm not overly complaining... yet.)

He stripped my membranes again today, and will do it again on Tuesday. It didn't hurt as much today, but there was a lot of blood when he was done. o_O There wasn't last time...

So ... now I wait.

I've been waiting a year for this stupid bathroom to be finished. I've realized that for these more "fiddly" things, I need to do them because DH will never ever get around to it- long term procrastination and avoidance. It's a small area I'm wallpapering- 3 half walls, about 2 feet wide. It's either wallpaper or rip out the drywall and put in new stuff.

That said, I haven't done any wallpapering. I have no idea where the wallpaper we bought is. Boo.

Jynx that is great that it wasn't a fight and the doctor agrees with you! The 16th will be here soon and baby might even come before then!

It's like I am either always contracting, or just fine.

The good news I learned from Dr today was that there isn't really any induction policy at the hospital - which surprised me. The Dr said that I could ask to be induced whenever I want. It's kind of up to me, and they will do a post date ultrasound to make sure everything is fine but there isn't a formal "policy" - like 41 or 42 weeks. So I guess that's good... but I REALLY DONT WANT ANOTHER ULTRASOUND EVER AGAIN so BABY HAD BETTER COME OUT SOON.

4 cm dilated? I'd hear that and be super excited and super pissed off at the same time. Baby isn't engaged here, either (midwife says if my water breaks I need to call her RIGHT AWAY and sit with my bum in the air until she arrives in case of prolapse. I tried to tell her baby is capable of dropping way down low but doesn't stay there, but she didn't believe me. Here's hoping my water doesn't break early).

I'm also exactly the same with the contractions. Every time I move or bend over I get a contraction, but that's it. They never happen by themselves.

Also, I desperately want this kid out- I do, seriously- but whenever I'm cleaning or something and get a contraction my first thought is always, "oof, that hurt, I need to sit down for a minute."

Yay for no induction policy!

Congrats Rowdie!!

I was watching a few videos last night on Youtube of women doing the "induction dance"- literally just putting on music and dancing like insane people with lots of bouncing and booty shaking with a giant ol' belly. I laughed so hard, and then thought "man, you'd have to be real desperate.... that must be so uncomfortable!" I don't even like walking to the bathroom most of the time.

Yay! At least the doctor is on board with you. Not fighting is fabulous. Hoping the membrane sweep does it's thing this time around so you don't have to wait for the induction date- fingers crossed!

I keep checking back to see if sosu has updated about that bulging water bag!

Nothing is happening symptom wise here & I'm just driving myself nuts.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the latest membrane sweep worked. :D

Of course, today is about the worst possible day to go into labor. My one baby sitter doesn't have a car, and my back up baby sitter is contagious with fifth's disease! To make it more fun, our hospital is on redirect, so we have to drive about half an hour to the next closest birthing center just to get checked.

Oh wow. That sounds pretty awful, overall, but hey- at least you're not being induced!

This goes along with the Murphy's Law theory of labor - good luck Jen! Thinking of you!

I am slowly and steadily losing what I'm assuming is still the mucous plug - though what I don't really understand is how I can already be dilated 4cm with that thing still in there? Maybe it's something else? Had bloody show last night before bed and a bit more blood tinged mucous (eww) this morning, plus what essentially felt like one long mini contraction ALL NIGHT. Yeah, I say mini contraction because i was able to talk the whole time and then this morning when the same thing was going on I was able to get DS dressed and cook oatmeal and whatnot the whole time. And it was like a constant dull ache not a wave or anything. Totally different from what my first labor felt like and while I know every time may be different I can't imagine this is anything other than my body gearing up for labor, not labor itself.

With DS when I had bloody show labor was imminent - so already this is different. Like last time, I think my contractions were steady at 7 minutes apart when there was blood when I wiped. Not a long constant uterine contraction that it appears I'm just going to have to live with all day.

It's pouring rain, and I still have a cold, but maybe I will go for a long walk anyway. It's just that I don't have a raincoat that I can zip... eyesroll.gif

Annnd another bloody false alarm. :(

Plus, we discovered that the other hospital "doesn't do" diabetics... o_O Meaning if you're diabetic in that town, you have to find another hospital to deliver at...

What?!  Do you think they would turn you away if you showed up?  That's ridiculous....

Apparently they transfer you via ambulance to the closest hospital. They have three beds, no NICU and the nurse nearly flipped out when I told her I was on an insulin pump

I never lost the plug with my third one.  When she was born it was stuck to her head...

So, yeah...it can still be in there. :)

Omg it was stuck to her head? EWWW and also funny! ;-)

Jynx, gosh I wish I could give you an IRL hug! How odd that the hospital "doesn't do" diabetics! You have had to deal w/ so much this pregnancy. I know you are beyond ready to just hold your baby!

Rozzie, a walk in the rain might actually be relaxing. I love rain! I understand about the jacket not zipping tho ~ maybe just bring an umbrella :-)

I went to get groceries last night, and it was raining.  I purposefully took my time loading them into the truck, returning the cart, and carrying them inside.  I really, really enjoyed the rain.  And, I really enjoyed the defiance of being an invalid...I was sort of reveling in the looks at the huge pregnant lady in the rain.  :)
