Question for knitters - Page 2

The only baby sweaters I've made were Elizabeth Zimmerman patterns.  The Baby Surprise Jacket is fun, especially in self striping yarn, the only seaming is from the neck to the sleeve hems, along the top of the arm.  This is the one I made for my son

The sleeves are kinda 3/4 length.  There's a link on the rav page to a wiki for this pattern that talks about how to size it up, add length to the sleeves, etc.

I've also made a couple February Baby Sweaters, the body is back and forth on a circ, and then you pick up held stitches and knit the arms in the round.  I made this for a baby shower a couple years ago.

Wow, this is a great thread, but overwhelming for an inexperienced knitter. But luckily my mother-in-law is a fantastic knitter and she can mentor me - I love the links - that Rhino Romper is adorable and I love the Knickers too!

Does anyone have any crocheted favorites?

lol. I taught myself to knit...took FOREVER, but sadly crochet is like a whole incomprehensible language to me. lol I cannot for the life of me figure it out!

I just finished the little overalls...so cute and little! And, I'm casting on tonight for The Little Coffee Bean Cardigan. I'm going with some ruby wool...I think no stripes, but I might add a cute felt decal on the bottom. There was a really nice example of one done in emerald green with a felt owl that was just adorable.

You sound like me! I taught myself to knit a long, long time ago but just sort of figured out crocheting this year after trying on and off for years.   If it's more complicated than a granny square though, forget it and I have to have the computer right beside me with youtube videos pulled up of each stitch I need to do!

I actually really do like crocheting granny squares....I think this baby's going to get a granny square afghan because I have made quite a few of those in the past year.

I love that little coffee bean sweater by the way! I'd been thinking about that pattern a while back and forgotten about it.  I might have to use that for my last bit of superwash yarn I bought to make sweaters for this baby!

Pregnova, you had asked about sweater patterns before.  I really like The Seamless Yoked Sweater.  I have about half of the last sleeve to finish on that one, though I didn't do the decorative rows at the bottom or at the sleeves.  It is a MUCH easier pattern than the last one I made.

I basically taught myself to knit as well (someone showed me the basics once but I never had the time to practice then several years later I decided to learn) and I can't crochet. Ive tried but it just seems like greek to me.

haha, that's really funny because I just found that sweater last night and put it next on the list! lol I love those curved yokes...the only sweaters that I've knit for myself that have turned out looked similar to that style, so it's my fav.
