Baby names!

Does anyone have any early thoughts on baby names? love.gif

We tend to wait until delivery to make a final decision, but we are having trouble with even creating a "short list" at this point. Seems to get harder and harder with each babe...

Boy: Dean, Samuel, Ethan middle name has to be Edwin per DH's request so I'm limited on what I have to work with, not that it matter cause all we have are girls and doubt that is going to change.

Girl: Evelyn, Gabrielle, Samantha.... Probably won't end up being any of these, they are names we've kicked around each time. Usually it will just come to me around 6-7 months. I'll just sit up one day and there's the name on the tip of my tongue.

Boy would probably be Trystan Ash, the boy name we came up with for the last baby. As we have 3 girls it is getting hard to pick more girl names, but I really like Ylva and will lobby hard for that one, don't know about a middle name yet, but we always do tree names so will have to start looking through lists of trees again...

tibris - great names! we considered both samuel and evelyn before.

katroshka - how to you pronounce Ylva?

We already have a girl name picked out...but...not sure of a boy name.  We had two names I liked previously and used them both.  I like traditional names in general (though my second son is less traditional of a name than the first)...I might have to go look!

Well, I have my heart set on Hazel Hermione for a girl. I'm still looking for a good boy's name.

The kids have suggested Lucy, Eric, Jack.

Give your kids odd names, they will pick Jack...

revolting - i love the name Hazel! we already have a child with a color name though, so we cant use it :(

shiloh - that's too funny.  our kids all have "odd names" (at least not top 100 names), so i do wonder if they'll name their own kids things like "jane" or "john"!

with my past two kids, I had such strong feelings for girl names. First was a girl and she got the name I wanted since I was a little girl. Second is a boy and his name was harder. This time, the boy name can over me like a ton of bricks - Niels Braden (middle name is my dh's, his dad's and his grandfather's middle name). Girl name is less clear this time around.

seraphim lake for a girl (we'd call her sera). archer anakin or asa jude (pronounced A-sa) for a boy.

shiloh -i love the name delilah too. though it's pretty much not an option for us because delilah diamond sounds like a stripper name lol.

LOL! For what it's worth, I really like the name Willow but Willow Woods sounds a bit much treehugger.gif

It's pronounced pretty much like ILL-va, though of course in Swedish it sounds a little different.

Hazel is on my girl name short list too!!  It was my favorite grandma's name..she passed away 3 yrs ago and I wanted to use it for my second son if he had been a girl.  Not sure if my hubs is on board with that name, but I'm using it for first or middle at least.

I like Asa as well.  We already have a boy name, I think, but I recently met someone named Asa and thought it was really cool.  With our last one, our name was rare until the day she was born, and then every one and their dogs named their daughters Harper!  I still love it though.  So this time, we are being very secretive.

I hate that we have a name in the top 10. When I was pregnant with DD 10 years ago we picked the name Ava and we knew NO ONE with that name. We picked it because of the beautiful actresses from the 1940's with that name. Now it seems like half the girls I meet under the age of 5 have that name and I just saw it was #7 on the top 10 girls names....ugh. Same goes for the girl name we want this time. It is my grandmothers name, my mothers middle name and my middle name. It is so old fashioned but of course is starting to make a come back! Same thing with the middle name we picked. It is my MIL's middle name and so old fashioned BUT a very popular english singer has the name and it is sure to get popular too. Sigh...redface.gif

You know, I never think of Hazel as a color. For me it always brings to mind the nut...you know, hazelnuts. I would not have thought of it as a color at all! Interesting.

I've been kind of hooked on the name Harrison if it's a boy...I love the nickname Harry but I hate the name Harold; for girls it's tough, I thought we were all locked up, lol but there are a few names that have remained on our lists for each child that we both love like Tabitha Wren, Annabel Harper, Charlotte Sage...and a few others. Dh and I have also been toying with the name Wyatt for a boy, or Finnegan, guess we'll see!

If this is a boy I have NO clue what we'll name him!  We always pick 3 names for our kids, and I've used the boy names I like already on our two boys smile.gif  Just for reference, my two boys names are Zion Robert Gregory and Phoenix Miles James.  Obviously we like really unique first names, and then use family names or more traditional for middle names.

For girls I have a list a mile long!!  I love the name Luna, but it seems to be gaining popularity so I'm hesitant to use it now.  Other favorites: Leilani, Milla (me-la), Stella, Haven, Salem, Eden, Isla, Reverie.  I could go on and on!  Also, Hazel, as I mentioned before is a for sure...I really want to honor my grandmother in that way.  Funny the name Evelyn has come up a lot, I love that one too and was my other grandmother's name!  So possibly a middle name choice for a girl.

We have dd Eden Raine, and ds Brett Edwin, I missed carried 18months ago and both dh and I believe it was our baby named Meadow!  It does seem to get harder with each baby but we have lists going.

Girls: Ada Jane or Willow Bliss

Boys: We have such a hard time with boy names, Brantley Albert (Albert is Dh  grandfather on dads side, just as Edwin for ds is for dh's maternal grandfather

I like older names and unique, dh likes strong boy names and "hippie" names for the girls  lol

Since my previous pregnancy, I've wanted to use the name Charlotte for a girl. But when I told my sister she got SO upset, because that's the name she wants to use for a girl. I had no idea, but I STILL love the name for a girl and it's the only girl name on our list. For a boy, maybe Henry? That name was on the list, along with Ethan Alexander, when we were expecting my DS. We chose not to use Henry, because we avoid family names and my MIL went crazy with sending us family names after we told her Henry. Apparently it was her great-grandfathers name, and we had no idea. We still ike the name Henry, but my MIL is convinced we'd naming a boy after her great-grandfather and she would talk about it and tell the whole world and then other peoples feelings would get hurt and blah blah blah blah. It doesn't really matter what name we choose, because we did name DS Ethan and my brother and SIL were upset because that was one of their names... geesh. Right now, I want to keep the gender (if/when we find out) and potential names a big fat SECRET.
