Holy crap, I can NOT sit still through these contractions I'm having!! Is this normal for late pregnancy BH, or is this different? I used to be able to ignore/not even notice contrax...but these are intense! Totally have to be up and moving during them. This can't be labor already, can it? They're about 7 min apart, lasting 1-2 min each. Lots of hip/lower back pain with them. Any thoughts?

If they continue in that pattern, I'd say hold onto your socks 'cause it sounds like labour!!

Contractions like that, lasting longer than an hour, sounds like a labor pattern to me!  If you want to "test" them, get into a bath with a glass of red wine.  If it's labor, they probably won't go away, but if it's BH they should calm down.

That sounds like it might be labor!  Even if it isn't, I would take Katiedidder's advice just because a bath with red wine sounds like the greatest thing in the world right now. orngbiggrin.gif

Oh boy!  Do we have another baby on the way?

Hey, how are things going, mama?

Warm bath, tall glass of water and then a glass of wine while you soak! If it's true labor, it won't peter out...if it's dehydration, over-doing-it, or something else of that nature bringing on labor before your body is actually ready...it should make it calm down.

How far along are you, mama?? I can't believe it! We have five June babies so far...maybe soon we'll have SIX!

I've had some doozies of contractions so far this pregnancy, but they weren't regular, and went away after walking/resting (depending on what I was doing), a long hot shower, and some water or food. Eager to hear your update!!!

update:

This must be what they call prodromal labor. They stayed at 7 min apart, 1 min long for 3 hours, didn't stop for anything...and then fizzled out. Something similar happened yesterday. They were not as intense, and not nearly as regular - 10-15 min apart sitting down, 5-10 min apart standing. Today it was 7 min, regardless of what I was doing. How long is this going to keep happening before I actually start into labor...? I'm about 36 weeks now.

One good thing about it, is that my baby's head is fully in my pelvis now. Tons of pelvic pressure and it sucks to walk, but it's progress. I could actually feel her head at the back of my vagina earlier (I had read you could once the head is engaged and was curious, it's true!). That was pretty cool. Didn't feel like my cervix has opened any, but it's very thin & felt like mush, lol.

Ahh, this is frustrating. I hope the next time I get regular contractions, they're actually labor starting.

My midwife today was talking about all the warm-up work that our bodies do, especially with 2nd or 3rd or subsequent babes, and every few hours of false labour you have is that much time off the real deal. Work you've already done so when labour time comes it's just the more rest/sleep that you get. I like that idea. Even if it doesn't result in baby now, it's still productive.

Well, this makes for about 7 hours of false labor so far. Hope I have a fast labor when it actually starts! This is my first baby, and I'm really hoping for a fast labor over a long, drawn-out one. One thing going for me is that fast first labors run in the family, as do precipitous labors/births too! I know one Aunt whose first came in just 4 hours. When my mother had me, it was 1.5 hours, start to finish. And I know of one cousin who was a roadside baby, another who was born (unplanned) at home. I almost was a roadside baby myself, I'm told I came just 10 min after my mom got to the hospital! Too bad the drive didn't take 15 longer then; probably would have saved a bunch of money! ROTFLMAO.gif

Sometimes I have more patience than should be possible, other times I can't stand waiting for something. I think waiting for labor to start is one of the things where I hate waiting. Which makes it hard to be appreciative of the false labor. I'm like, Can we get on with it? I want my baby already. Can't wait to meet her!
