Due Date Question

Today I am 34 weeks and this is based on the 1st day of my last period and confirmed by the 99% likely day of conception (FF), also a dating ultrasound and measuring "right on track". So, I registered to get emails from a popular baby site that sends you updates each week, and every Tuesday I get one that tells me how many weeks I am, etc.

However, my MW's have the same info and whenever I go in, they say that I am i.e. 28.5 weeks when in reality the next day I'm 29 weeks. Basically their calculations differ by 2 days from what I'm using, but we both have the same due date we're going by.

This didn't seem like any big deal until now, when I suspect I might go into labor around 37 weeks and they will not allow me to birth at the center if I'm earlier. I'm thinking, what if I'm 36 weeks and 5 days according to them, but really 37 weeks. It is so confusing!

Does anyone understand this?

I have an apt. this week and will ask, and I'm going to bring my FF chart just in case. I would just like the peace of mind to know what to expect if things start happening fast.

I know one thing that has thrown my date off is the this year was a Leap Year, so there was an extra day in February.  So if you are going by weeks, based on my ultrasound that put me at 9 weeks on a Thursday, my due date is June 14th.  But using their computer formula (which does not take into account the Leap Year) they have my due date as June 15th.  Which, is not a big deal unless, like you mentioned, it could affect your ability to have the delivery you are hoping for.

Hahahah, well, you're in good company. ;)

I would bring your chart and just explain to them that it's kind of bugging you and you'd like them to please change your due date because you're sure that your dates are correct.

If they have the guts to step to a pregnant lady over a two day EDD change, well, then they are dumb and deserve what's coming to them. I totally understand your worry and I totally get that once you get an idea like that in your head it can be hard to shake it. It would get under my skin, too, if I felt like there was a possibility I could go early and if I felt like they would ACTUALLY not attend me at home if I was two days before 37 weeks! UGH! Annoying!

Do you think your midwives are that hardcore about due dates? I don't think most would care about just a few days unless there was serious question about the gestation of your babe. Have you had any dating ultrasounds at all that could back you up?

Thanks, mamas!

I've had two ultrasounds and each one has given me a due date at least at the "official" one (June 19) or earlier.

I'm definitely going to talk to them and hopefully it won't be a big deal! Just trying to get all of my ducks in a row so that I can r-e-l-a-x. :)
