What are you eating these days?

I'm still feeling pretty crappy...nauseous all day on and off and heartburn the rest of the time. I'm having trouble being able to drink water (makes me nauseous) but juice or carbonated beverages give me heartburn. All I really want is stuff thats bad for me...sugary baked goods, ice cream/popsicles, processed carbs etc. I'm completely repulsed by any kind of meat and I hate most beans/legumes even when not pregnant so getting enough protein is a problem. I also have aversions to whole wheat/whole grains and am just starting to be ok with veggies in small portions (or hidden in stuff). This is NOT how I normally eat at all. I've been telling myself that I just needed to survive the first trimester and then I could get back to my healthy eating habits, but at 13 wk 1d, I'm starting to get nervous that it may not change. I need to figure out how to eat healthier and hopefully slow my weight gain a bit, and fast! This is my last baby and I am attempting an HBA2C so I really want to stay healthy so nothing derails my plans.

So I guess I'm just wondering what you ladies are able to eat right now. Whats a normal day of food for you?

This baby only seems to like carbs and cheese. I've been eating mac and cheese, grilled cheese, polenta, & cheese on crackers. I eat other things too, but I feel miserably sick afterwards. Sweet things make me sick too... but ice cream is mysteriously ok. Hormones are strange lol.

I know, right? What is it about ice cream anyway? Sometimes it actually seems to make me feel better. I know it's not the milk because when I have regular milk in cereal or something, it gives me heartburn irked.gif Gah, what I wouldn't give to be one of those women who craves spinach.

My nausea has significantly reduced.  HG is pretty much under control, except nights are still tough.  Anyhow, my diet has pretty much returned to normal, yea!  My cravings aren't at all sweet, thank goodness.  I am loving proteins - chicken, eggs, salmon, beef - it's what fills me up and makes me feel great.  Veggies are great in salads but not so much on their own.  At night my treat has become berries with homemade whipping cream (mmmmmmm).  My indulgence is a chai latte from Starbucks.  Yes, I still want carbs occasionally but it really has subsided and I find a little bit of rice does it.  I usually abhor grains so it's funny to me that I still want them.

Complete turnaround from 2 weeks ago when all I could stand were carbs.  I was in the toast department for a while!!

I'm sooo jealous! I really hope I feel more like you do soon! I know I would feel better if I could eat healthier. I'm so glad you are feeling better though :)

honestly nothing sounds very good to me.. I'm not sick all the time any more like i used to be (seriously this pregnancy was textbook.. my nausea lightened at 10 weeks and was pretty much gone by 12 weeks.) but food is just not super appealing. when i do want things, i want real home made dinner type meals.. processed foods make me feel sick.. i can't eat sweets/chocolate any more.. idk i have fallen out of love with food. which is saying something because I'm a size 24.. lol.

BUT just so you know.. when i was feeling super sick, all i could really eat was popsicles, ice cream and other cold sweet things. it's pretty odd, but it does seem like things like that are easy on a morning sick tummy!

I want all the food I ate as a kid. Vegetable soup, grilled cheese, Mac and cheese, spaghetti and meatballs. Also, I want whatever anyone else is craving. Someone mentioned Indian food, so I am craving Indian food. The spaghetti& meatballs wee from watching Hancock. My sister was making chocolate cake, so I had to too. My son and I watched a "do you know the muffin man" video on YouTube and I had to go make muffins! It's like I want to have cravings but can't come up with my own! So random.

I have been loving jello for some reason, and loving fresh fruit. I had terrible heart burn with my first and couldn't tolerate ANYthing spicy. With this one, the heartburn is much more sporadic and spicy foods don't bother me! It is so weird.

I am trying to tone down my carb bonanza, but low-carb really does not appeal to me right now. I managed to keep eating eggs for breakfast most days, although I did have waffles this weekend... smile.gif I have gained 2-3 lbs in the last 5 weeks.

Im 14+1 and the nausea has just started to improve in the last few days. I'm starting to eat more things too but still not nearly back to normal.

I am still eating lots of carbs but I can eat whole grain bread again. Fruit is good, mainly mandarins, apples and grapes. I can eat beef and lamb but chicken and fish have no appeal although tinned tuna has been ok a couple of times. Cheese is my friend but thats the only dairy other than tzatsiki which Iove! I can't bear anything sweet, it all has a horrible chemical taste like its packed with artificial sweetener.

I try to drink water but it tastes yuck. Sparkling apple and grape juice are my favorites and some other juices mixed with mineral water. They all taste a bit funny but bearable. I also eat a few lemonade icy poles which are only just ok but I need the fluids.

Last time I was pretty good by 16 weeks so I'm hoping the end is in sight.

I'm going to third the ice cream thing. Something about it being cold, wet, and sweet - but I think the coldness is the main thing for me. It's very soothing, particularly when you are nauseous a lot and dry, salty, warm things are off-putting.

I eat waaaaaaaaay too much ice cream. But who cares.

I've been carb loading a lot.  I can't help it.  I can't just have a veggie salad for lunch, because literally an hour later I'm so hungry I feel like I'm going to vomit.

I could eat mashed potatos and pasta at every meal.  I've been trying to lay off the sugars.  I made a big veggie soup last week but then could not eat it because just looking at it made me nauseous.  Ugh.  For some reason through doritos do not make me nauseous.  or french fries.  or pizza.  I don't normally eat junk food but lately, I haven't had much self control.  there is something about being nauseous that literally send all selfcontrol out the window.  I can't make good eating decisions when I feel like crap.

I do feel better than I did a month ago, I just need to have tasty healthy foods available so I snack on good food instead of junk.

I've eaten chicken curry for five days in a row!  I don't know what is up with that.  I also polished off a bag of Jelly Belly's in two days.

i love jelly belly's when I"m pregnant!  Yum!

We had pizza for dinner....and now I feel SO nauseous.  It's sitting in my stomach like a brick, ooofff.

I'm drinking some lemonade to help before I go to bed.

I can't believe I'm almost 15 weeks and still having off and on nausea.

pimento cheese.

And I'm getting DH to bring home a country fried steak smothered in gravy home for dinner. So wrong, but sounds so good!

Honestly, not much of anything.  I'm one of the unlucky ones that instead of the MS getting better, it's getting worse.  Ugh. I just gag at the thought of food and walking into the kitchen is like walking across a minefield blindfolded... it rarely ends well.
