Best Mop/broom whatever for hardwood floors?

Just had my gross carpets removed from my living space and now have hardwood floors.

What is the best mop to use on a daily basis that will pick up dog hair and dust bunnies?? Ive got 2 dogs and 2 cats, so it needs to pick up. Dont mind spending a lot for something efficient and reusable! I bought something cheap and it just pushes it around...does not pick up :(

I've got a toddler, a hairy dog and two cats. I SWEAR by our Dutch Rubber broom - they're awesome! (We have the "as seen on TV" one, I think.) Anyway, the rubber bristles on the broom capture pet hair better than anything else I've tried and the best part is that it doesn't fly around and float elsewhere. We have a felt cover that we use with it when we want to use it as a mop.

I bought some Swedish Mop thingamdeely* (sorry for the lack of specifics) from Real Goods that I really love. It has a large, flat mop surface with washable, removable covers that can be used wet or dry. Love it for smooth floors. But, yeah, with allergies we usually start with the HEPA vacuum, and finish with the wet mop. The mop is not cheap, but I love it, and it comes with a telescoping handle so the girls can push it around, too.

I vote vacuum as well. For mopping I use the microfiber bona mop, but the vacuum will do the best getting rid of hair

I vacuum every day and mop every once in a while. Miele vacuum is 9 years old and going strong!! Never needed service. Expensive up front, but they are built to last!!

This is what I bought. Expensive up front, expensive to replace bags/HEPA filter, but I love the vacuum and never have regretted buying it. I use it all the time, and even for work as a housekeeper.
