Family: DH and I have been married for 10 years, dd1 8, ds1 7, dd2 5, ds2 18 months (birthday 11/16)

How long did it take to get your BFP: (big fat positive, were you trying/how long?)  I wasn't feeling great and took a test thinking it would be negative, I was probably 3 weeks or so.

Birth plans: home water birth

Goals/hopes for this pregnancy: I am still trying to wrap my head around this pregnancy.  My husband was actually scheduled for his vasectomy consultation and we had decided we were done, we were being careful but apparently we were supposed to have one more. It's been a bit rough for me and I find myself having daily meltdowns, but I am praying I can start seeing the light, and I know once this baby is here we will never imagine our lives without him or her. I hope for a healthy pregnancy, and that this extreme food aversions and nausea end soon .

Early guesses about baby (gender/birthdate/etc): nope

Anything else!: I am also still nursing my 18 month old but my milk dried up right away and it is starting to be really uncomfortable, so I am trying to wean him without it being traumatizing for him.

How long did it take to get your BFP: (big fat positive, were you trying/how long?) weren't trying at all, completely unplanned! But not unwanted!

Birth plans:Either hospital or homebirth, doula-supported (I'm also a doula so we're pretty set either way)

Goals/hopes for this pregnancy: Get over this nauseau/fatique/smell aversions and make it through the first trimester :) Then we'll see...

Early guesses about baby (gender/birthdate/etc): Nothing yet, trying to not think ahead too much :)

Goals/hopes for this pregnancy: be more relaxed, keep exercising, go for more than 35 wks (which was what DS ended up at)
Early guesses about baby (gender/birthdate/etc): assuming boy (hoping for girl, maybe?), and they'll probably be early

How long did it take to get your BFP: we weren't really trying - but we also were not not trying... so I have no idea!

Birth plans: definately my midwife from my first pregnancy, in a small hospital here in toronto

Goals/hopes for this pregnancy: so far, just surviving the first trimester! (so far its been rough)

Early guesses about baby (gender/birthdate/etc): I have no idea! (secretly hoping for a girl.. ;))

Anything else!: I love the support that the mothering website offers, can't wait to chat with all of you!

Early guesses about baby (gender/birthdate/etc): My friend has been telling me how she's sure it will be a girl because two days passed between dtd and when I felt ovulation cramping and x-chromosome sperm tend to hang out longer.  Anyone else heard of such a thing?

Interesting!  Though I'm still waiting to have a dream that will give me a feeling one way or another.  I know there's absolutely no scientific proof for that one, but hey, it worked last time!

Hey ladies!

My name is Britni and my DH is Ty. We just found out this afternoon that we are expecting our first baby! I was so scared to look at the test because we thought I was pregnant in March, but it turned up negative. I made him do the tests and bring them to me when they were done. I tried so hard not to think I could possibly be pregnant, so I bet my husband that I wasn't. I lost.

The estimated due date (using my last period) is January 31, 2013. I'm secretly hoping for a February baby. My birthday was this passed March and I turned 21! The only plan we can have is the one that the military provides us with, as I am active duty, which isn't so bad. As long as I have a healthy baby in my arms by the end of this pregnancy! My husband thinks it's going to be a boy because we DTD right on time with ovulation, but I told him it's going to be a girl. I'm new to this, I usually only lurk (I know I'm a creeper) but it's amazing that you all will be on the same journey as me! I look forward to absorbing as much advice as possible!

P.S. I'm a HUGE worry wart! I'll probably post every day with a new question or ridiculous, scary theory. Bare with me please!

hi mommas

excited to join this ddc.

i really enjoyed my last ddc, it really helped me remember that i wasn't alone in this craziness!

so i am 31, due 1/21 and have a dd who's 21 months.

this is my second pregnancy and the morning sickness hit me hard last week.

i never had it with dd and it really sucks!

plus my irritability seems like it's come sooner this time around.

basically i'm annoyed by anything and everything and no fun to be around.

i'm a sahm and watch another toddler a few days a week but i'm starting to think i need a break more often now.

i'm so tired and unfocused. already.

i haven't made any appointments or told anyone outside of my 2 best friends yet.

i still feel hesitant.

i am still nursing dd and it hurts to nurse, which makes me sad.

i don't know if it will go away or stay like this.

thankfully we just nightweaned so i'm working on sleeping through the night and i think that helps my quality of life alot. except that at dawn she wants to nurse on and off for 2 hours and i don't have the energy to work on that yet. she's suck a light eater that i'm afraid she's hungry at 6am but i'm not getting out of bed to make breakfast :)

i intend to still nurse during the day as long as it works, she's in bed with us.

oh and i had dd at a waterbirth center, 14 hr labor, 2 hours pushing.  

i think we'll go there again this time but i need to call insurance and figure out what's what.

Family: me, dh (30), dd (9), ds (almost 2), newbie
How long did it take to get your BFP: (big fat positive, were you trying/how long?) hmm not preventing, ds was 18 mo when we conceived, one chemical pregnancy that didn't stick in between ds and this one
Birth plans: not sure yet, dd was a 26 minute hosp birth with no fetal monitoring or cervical checks, ds was born at home attended by a hands off mw no cervical checks and periodic doppler monitoring. I want to uc/lotus birth! But I'm not going to box myself into any decisions, yet.
Goals/hopes for this pregnancy: healthy baby, less puking than my other two
Early guesses about baby (gender/birthdate/etc): hoping for a girl! Anytime after the winter solstice

Family: DH, 15 mo DD, 4 dogs, 6 chickens!
How long did it take to get your BFP: (big fat positive, were you trying/how long?) Not trying...was on my 3rd cycle since starting my period again in December and somehow missed my fertile quality cervical fluid. It's usually so obvious, not sure how that happened!
Birth plans: Home birth with a midwife, maybe even a water birth!
Goals/hopes for this pregnancy: Less weight gain, more consistent exercise than with DD
Early guesses about baby (gender/birthdate/etc): Hubby had a girl dream last week, my brain keeps saying "she"
Anything else!: Still nursing DD and it's not bothering me at all yet. We'll keep going as long as she wants and see how my supply holds up!

Early guesses about baby (gender/birthdate/etc): We used the Shettles method to try for a girl...but will be in love with whatever comes our way :)

Anything else!: Still nursing DS#2 and despite a little bit of tenderness it seems to be going well so far!

Family: I have a husband a 5 year old, a 3 year old and a 17 month old. Oh also a chocolate lab all but the husband are girls.

How long did it take to get your BFP: (big fat positive, were you trying/how long?) Umm not trying, quite the opposite. This one is quite a surprise.

Birth plans: Probably in a hospital with an epi. So far 2 out of 3 labors were induced due to PIH.  I am up for anything at this point. 

Goals/hopes for this pregnancy: One of the things that lead me to believe that I was pregnant is that I gained like 10 lbs in a week.  I am overweight so I need to eat healthy and frankly not really gain any weight.  Most importantly if I could avoid PIH I would be happy. That and keep up with the three little ones and hold down my full time job. 

Early guesses about baby (gender/birthdate/etc): So far I have three girls but who knows.

Anything else!:

Hmm my husband is a stay at home dad and we live in nor cal. There is probably more but pregnancy brain and mom brain are in full gear.

ETA (now I remember)  I have three girls but the two youngest ones are both December and January babies who are only 5 days apart (give or take 2 years). Seems like this is the time of year for me to get pregnant :)

I know this feeling! I have one in Oct, two in Nov, one in Dec, one in Jan and the odd baby born in June. Clearly the new baby is following pattern.

How long did it take to get your BFP: It took 5 months for us to conceive

Birth plans: Home water birth. Will be trying out hypnobabies too. 

Goals/hopes for this pregnancy: A healthy baby, a wonderful and safe birth. I hope I don't receive anymore morning sickness. Had some during week 6 but thats it so far thankfully. My goals are be a healthy as I can, not over work myself, get more exercise. 

Early guesses about baby (gender/birthdate/etc): Right after I told my husband we were expecting, he was eating some M&Ms from the bag and pulled out 4 blue at the same time, was it a sign? I also had a dream last week that it was a boy. But I really can't wait to have a girl, but definitely want boys in the family as well. :-)

Anything else!: It doesn't feel real to finally be pregnant!

How long did it take to get your BFP: (big fat positive, were you trying/how long?) Didn't even think to test until my 2 yr old told me his sister was in my belly :)  as soon as I peed on the stick bright blue positive at about 6 weeks, so different than with my other two (I usually tested right away and it was really faint) but probably because it is such a shock, we probably had sex 3 times the whole month and two of those were when I was waiting for my period...uggg

Birth plans: homebirth with unknown midwife

Goals/hopes for this pregnancy: to stay positive(I was trying to talk hubby into vasectomy 2 months earlier), to stay active, to take care of my kids, myself and my husband emotionally and physically, to not complain as this is officially my last pregnancy.

Early guesses about baby (gender/birthdate/etc): girl born on a Sunday, since my 1st was born on a Fri next on Sat so maybe this one on a Sunday.   Pretty positive it is a girl since I dreamt about her about a year ago.

Anything else!:   I am a childbirth educator, doula and prenatal yoga teacher...and I love babies!  I just knew that we could not afford another baby and that my husband is much more cut out for two kids and I was finally going to leap more into the midwifery world.  But alas there is another plan in the works.
