Love this thread, and could have answered so many of the questions, but not the EC one! Someone answer it & through something else out! :)
TMBM (The Mama Below Me) - Page 3
LOL Thanks Jackies ;) Not sure if that was intentionally for me, but it sure seems like it ;)
Yes, I started a Sudbury model school 8 years ago (well 10 years ago we started the process, started running it 8 years ago). It is one of my babies for sure. All 3 of my boys go there, plus 4 others who live in the house with us. 1 is too young, the other four live mostly 2 hours away. I have so many beautiful stories from the 8 years, many involve my own kids (like my oldest teaching himself to read).
TMBM raises chickens!
I raise meat birds! Well, this was our first season of raising birds- we had 10 in our back yard. It was a lot of fun and we are now enjoying eating them! When we move to the country we would like to get some layers but as chickens are illegal in our city... we will wait for layers.
The mama below me is a Harry Potter fan.
Glad to jump in! I bought a couple of bags of wild flower seeds and my DH spread them out so we have a whole range of unusual flowers. Personally the garden is a little chaotic this way, but as long as I don't have to do the work I don't mind what's going on out there. I have one crystal vase that was a special gift from my great aunt (somehow this one has managed to survive the kids so far) so this is where I'm keeping it!
TMBM (like myself) has nursed her babies exclusively and never used a baby bottle!
We tried to give DS1 a bottle once when he was about 6 months old - I went to a job training for a WAH job, I pumped & and left him with a friend for 3 hours. Fortunately she was still nursing her 2-year old, poor DS had no idea what to do with that plastic nipple! (he did receive sugar water in the birth center before I went home, but I try to forget that ever happened...).
I spent 10 years pregnanct &/or nursing my babies :) This 2-year break was wonderful in many ways, sad in others. I figure if I have another wean at 4, that will give me about another 5 years pg/nursing, so 15 years of my life total. Whew!
TMBM has an obsession with an online or phone game they absolutely LOVE!
darkblue, that is such a great idea to play D&D with webcam! What a great way to keep in touch with friends. I definitely think nerdery is something to be proud of :)
I adore Renaissance Festivals. We took DD to the one in Gainesville twice when she was 2 and 3 or around there. I remember I carried her in an Ergo the first time, but the second time she ran around. What was interesting the second time was it was raining pretty hard, so only people who really wanted to be there turned out. So the percentage of people dressed up skyrocketed, although some were under rain ponchos like us.
TMBM can crochet.
ETA: Yikes, I'm too late. That's what I get for posting while eating my lunch :)
I expect and hope to go over my due date. With my two DDs, I went over by 5 days. Neither one was large, no problems with the placenta. I was happy to let them cook a little longer once I saw that they had needed it. The waiting was hard but worth it. This time if I go over by 4 days the birthday will be 12/12/12. I think that's kinda neat.
Let's see...the Mama Below Me already has some labor music picked out...
TMBM has a hidden talent or party trick that she'd like to tell us about ;-)
