That's me! I've had dreads since October of last year, though right around Christmas I brushed my first set out. (I only had 25 of them and they were starting to get really fat and pull on my scalp.) I had been reading a lot on natural dreads (i.e. letting hair dread up on its own by only washing it and not combing it,) and decided that I would rather have my hair dread up on its own and let it be free, than manually put them in and mess with them all the time with a crochet hook/palm rolling, (which I had been doing!) So, the first of this year is my new dread start date and for the first two months, my hair really look like it had any dreads. Six months into just not brushing my hair, my dreads are crazy! About two months ago, I sewed in a few wool dreads that are really fun. They are purple and a few shades of green. I also have some wrapped and 3 glass beads in them so far. I really want to do another wrap to signify this pregnancy I may do that tonight, now that I'm thinking about it.
Now, I have too many dreads to count. Some are super teeny tiny, and some are thicker than my finger! My hair is super crazy and has a mind of its own and I LOVE it! Forever, I was always constantly changing my hair: dying, cutting, doing something to it. Now, it's finally free and I don't know when I'll ever comb it again. These days, I wear a ton of pretty silk scarves to tie it up. I love the maintenance free aspect of it all!
Nosreves, I ADORE handwritten letters. There's just something about taking the time out to sit down and write a letter that makes my heart smile. I also am a fan of stationary. LOVE that stuff.
The mama below me is getting ready to move during this pregnancy.
