Nursery Pics?

Do any of you mommas feel like sharing your nursery pics?

We have a bit of work left to do on ours and I need some motivation to get my butt in gear. Sadly we aren't getting as much help from family as we'd anticipated (they are helping in other ways, which is nice, but at almost 36 weeks I'd appreciate the physical help right now) so I either have to finish everything myself or nag DH into helping me. I'm not really a nursery user for the first year or so, but I wanted to get his room close to "done" now so I won't have to try to make a nice room for him once I have two kiddos running around.

Anyone feel like sharing?

I don't have any pics since I am in EXACTLY the same boat as you right now.  I feel stalled since I'm waiting for DH to bring a few things down from the attic and go pick up a dresser at my mom's house. I just wanted to commiserate with you - it's frustrating!  It still would be a relief to have the nursery done even though we won't use it for a while.  One less thing to stress about right? Plus I think there is something calming about being in a baby's room.  With DD1 I would nurse her in the rocker in her room, change her in there and we'd just hang out. alicewyf - maybe we really need to badger our DHs this week!

No pictures here, either, because while we got the painting done and the crib/changing table up and ready to go, our desk is still in there and my husband likes using that for correcting, so until baby is here it seems silly to kick him out just to make it pretty in there.  :)

I just have a picture of her bed and a picture of the painting my sister-in-law painted for her, which is hanging over her bed. I've been meaning to take pics of the rest of the room but haven't had a chance and/or it's been too messy in there (my 6-year-old DD is sharing a room with the baby).

becoming, your pics are so cute! Is the Bible quote the one your SIL painted? I like the hot pink/black/white combo a lot.

I'm almost at the point where I'm ready to start taking pictures. We are finally done painting (I'm only 37 weeks, we're totally not procrastinating right? eyesroll.gif) and we set up the crib and dresser today. I didn't use a changing table with DD, but the dresser could easily be used as one if we bought a changing pad for it. I am hoping that I won't feel the need for one though. I bought a sheepskin to change him on the floor, or we will probably end up changing him on our bed a lot of the time too.

My husband is a HUGE (huge!) comics geek, so I allowed him to decide the theme this time as we're having a boy. He chose a very specific, "Marvel superheroes by Jack Kirby, specifically focusing on Thor." So yeah. I'm totally not into superhero wall decal/ superhero sheet sets and all that whatnot, so I have veto power. I'm basically letting him put up some superhero wall art (including some of his really old/valuable comics in archival frames) and some of his vintage toys up on some shelves. I think it is going to look classy but still superhero enough to please DH. It is rare he gets to geek out like this (or even have any sort of say in the decor of our house) so I'm mostly letting him do whatever as long as it isn't too tacky. I hope to get pics up here sometime this week!

Here's some pics of Donovan's nursery. We still have a couple of unfinished projects, but it's basically ready for his arrival.

Wow, MamaintheDesert, you did an amazing job! I love the forest animal theme. I was obsessed with a similar theme from Babies R Us when I was pregnant with DD, but we were in an apartment when she was born so I never got to do a nursery with her. I think that's why I'm going majorly overboard this time!

Is the rocking chair your grandmother's? The rocking chair in my nursery was one that my great-grandmother used for her babies! I know about sentimental rocking chairs! It has been passed down to the first child to have a baby in each generation. My mom gave it to me when I was pregnant with DD and I can't wait to rock my little boy in it in a few weeks!

Yes, the second photo is of the painting my sister-in-law did. I was so impressed, she didn't use a stencil or anything. I should take pictures of the rest of the room, because it's really really cute, but it's never organized enough to get good pics. lol. My 6-year-old is sort of a slob, and the other half of the room is hers.

MamaintheDesert, I LOVE that room. Soooo precious! I would have done something similar had this baby been a boy.

Thanks for the compliments on the room! I loved it when I found that nursery set. I got a "big kids" set that was similar (pinks and pastels though) from Target a while back for DD. I thought it would be cool for them to have similar themed rooms. I also like that they're forest animals, and not jungle animals. I don't know why, but it makes a difference for me. I know the Jamaica picture doesn't really fit the theme, but I thought it was cool to put in his room.

And, yes, the chair is my grandma's. She had all kinds of neat furniture. Most of it has disappeared over the years and this is one of the only pieces of hers that are left. I wish I knew what happened to her chaise lounge... This rocking chair is cool though, because it's soft, velvety, and small. I'm pretty short, and I like that my legs go all the way to the ground even if I rock it. Also, some of the other artwork in the nursery is needlepoint my mother did. Over his bed is a picture of a teddy bear with a heart on his belly and it says "A hug a day keeps the growlies away." And, over the rocking chair... you can barely see the bottom of the frame over the little mushroom organizer thingy... is a picture of a bird and a mouse hugging with the words "Friends are Forever." DH has been working on a woodcarving with Donovan's name on it, and there's a couple of blank spots on the wall for things from his mother and grandmother. I know DH has picked out a couple of things for them, but with everything going on has forgotten to bring them home. I like that in his room Donovan will be surrounded by things from all of his family. I know that for me, it gives me a sense of peace when I walk in there. I hope that as he grows that those things bring him the same feeling.

Alicewyf, my DH wants to see photos of your nursery.  I think our DH's would get along well :)

Mama and SarahDC your nursery's are totally cute!!!  PERFECT!  I can't wait to get mine done.  We've only painted and being on team green I can't really finish it off.  So it's pretty boring right now....
