I'm having the recovery from hell. Came home and really struggled to take care of my 3-year-old with the incision pain. Just as that started getting better I got slammed with a bladder infection and had to go on antibiotics. Then two days later I ended up with the biggest tooth abscess and cheek swelling my dentist has ever seen, which ended up with me having oral surgery and a root canal. Now I am on TWO antibiotics. Both have been cleared by the pediatrician, who knows I'm breastfeeding. I am also taking probiotics.
Every time I think I'm going to feel better it all goes to hell. My goal was to start some light walking at 2 weeks pp, but my post-partum bleeding started up again, and I get this extremely gross and disturbing gushes of blood all day. My OB says it's normal but to take it easy. I'm completely sleep-deprived, falling behind on work and everything else, and just very, very frustrated and depressed about how I feel physically (no worries, I'm pretty sure it's not PPD).
On the positive side, nursing is going extremely well. Aria regained her birth weight 5 days after she was born (after dropping down from 6lbs. 12 oz. to 6 lbs. 4 oz.) and is now up to 7 lbs. 5 oz. I'm very happy with that, but she still has her days and nights mixed up, which is EXHAUSTING. She also nurses often, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how people manage to nurse in a sling hands-free. I can do it, but I have to use both hands, which seems to defeat the purpose. Do people manage to do this hands free? Maybe those who have small breasts?
Sorry, I just had to vent. I feel worse today, at over two weeks out, than I did the day after my c-section. Sigh.
