Guess who got her period irked.gif I'm freaking tandem nursing UGH

Nooooooo! That's so totally unfair. Only perk of tandem breastfeeding for me was the super-delayed period. That's just evil.

I do not like my husband these days either.  I feel bad, but he totally annoys me.  I am not dtd until we have a real date-- and he asks for the date and pays for it. LOL Sounds silly, but I too feel totally ignored and just taken for granted.  I feel so boring. I want to have some fun that isn't going to dinner (although that would be okay I guess) or a movie. I would really like to go away overnight somewhere-- even if it is just at a hotel here in town... but then there is the expectation of dtd and I do not want to at all....

Same here! I have a huge muffin top. I walked today. I am swimming tomorrow. Unfortunately I am eating enough to feed 3 grown men (I am always SO HUNGRY!) so that is going to slow down the process but I am eager to lose this muffin top.

Phew, at least i'm not the only one not liking hubby these days! We did dtd for the first time last night - 7 weeks pp - and I was pretty crabby about it & just wanted to get it over with I guess. I was still feeling angry about the website, angry that he doesn't wake when the baby grunts, angry about pretty much everything. Totally should have made him be more romantic first! That isn't silly FM - it makes sense to me and obviously you'll be more in the mood if you feel like he is being sweet and romantic and attentive!

Okay, so after we dtd (late last night), I was a little sore and crampy and then this morning I started bleeding...like as much as a period - soaking pads & stuff. So now I'm like uh oh I hope everything is okay up there! I feel okay...maybe its my period? Now I'll mention that I hadn't fully stopped bleeding from having the baby. I was still spotting occasionally after being active or lifting things and the midwife said although I was bleeding, it wasn't a big deal...but now this is a lot more bleeding. Not bright red - but not brown either...kind of an in-between reddish maroon brown color. Sorry if this is way TMI. Thoughts? Think this is my period? Or maybe DH was just a little too enthusiastic while dtd and irritated my cervix or something?

Hmmm - Meredith have you seen the dr or midwife since deacon was born?
I just would be so surprised if so many of us are getting our periods so soon - it took me 9 months for my period to come back pp with DS1... I would think if you haven't totally stopped bleeding from delivery then you probably don't have your period ? Obviously I'm no expert it's just a hunch/intuition. I'd talk to your dr if it continues. My dr last week gave me the go-ahead to"resume all activities including intercourse" - I was like lol yeah right wink1.gif

Meredith IDK if that's normal. My period is light for sure but I hadn't bled for over a week before this and I got my period back EBFing DD1 at 8 wks PP so it's kind of normal for me

I had my 6 week post partum check up last week and I was still spotting at the apt and the midwife said I could go ahead and resume all activities ... So I kept spotting here and there for a week and now I'm 7 weeks pp & bleeding pretty heavily compared to the spotting ... Maybe I'll give the doctors office a call in the morning. I'm breast feeding/pumping all day lol. I would be surprised if this is my period but who knows...

my lochia ended almost overnight, but now I have pelvic pain. I have no idea where it came from. I had a little bit of pressure after going on short walks before this, but this is actually painful. now I'm starting to doubt that I'll be able to be active for a while, which is really upsetting - I need to be active, for my mental health.

I think the pain is at my pubic bone, only on the right side. my midwives aren't being too helpful. I'm thinking I should start going to a chiro regularly. I also need to find an OB down here.

I really think it has to do with loss of core strength - whether c section or vaginal delivery. I get terrible lower back pain mostly on the left side but lately right in the middle - clearly resulting from carrying my big baby, in arms, in the carrier, whatever - and even just from standing a lot because I've zero abdominal strength at the moment. I also had strange pelvic pain - maybe groin area - also I am convinced due to lack of abs. greensad.gif

Maryamrose - my doula referred me to a MAT Specialist in SF for my pelvic pain.  Fortunately mine resolved by itself by 6 weeks PP, so I did not end up using her. Thought I'd pass the info along though in case you're interested...

I'm having pelvic pain too :( SPD never went away chiro helps some but still hurting..

I'm spotting today, exactly 8 weeks PP.  WTH?

rozzie - thanks! it would make a lot of sense if this is because my stabilizing muscles are weak - I've been fairly inactive since mid-May. I've also noticed that it happens when I carry or wear Kusha for more than a few minutes, and he's gaining a pound a week, so I don't think that's a coincidence.

msw - thank you so much for the resource! I'd never heard of MAT, I'll definitely look into it.

I'm sorry, sosu :( I read up on SPD and that sounds exactly like what's going on here.

Ladies. Just revitalizing this thread to ask a question that I think, even 8 months later, is still relevant to this topic:

At 8 wks pp, I had an IUD (paragard) inserted. With the insertion came some fairly heavy period-like bleeding (i had stopped lochia bleeding at about 5-6 wks) which lasted about a week. It then stopped and since - nothing. With DS1 I got AF about 9 months pp.
So Now, I keep getting mildly intense menstrual like cramps every so often, but nothing doing when I go to bathroom. I'm starting to worry that it isn't AF coming back and instead it's the IUD making me crampy. But could it be AF coming and my body just cramping in preparation/warning?

What did your body do when your period came back? I honestly can't remember from 4 years ago :/
post #274 of 284

Rozzie, sorry I can't remember, is that the copper one or the one with hormones? Really, you can be totally irregular for months and months even years postpartum... I know that doesn't help but it is true.

There really isn't a "regular" until you wean baby and even then you can be all over the place for awhile....

With DD I got my period back (err.. sort of...) at 4 months. I ovulated without knowing it and conceived DS1 without ever getting a period in between. SERIOUSLY surprised by that, since we were nursing around the clock day and night.

DS1 I was tandem nursing both kids, period came back at 11 months

Everett I got my period back at just under 7 months.

I definitely, for the boys, got mild crampy feelings off and on to the point where I was like, "this is it!" but then nothing would happen. It would happen for a couple of days every other week or so. When it finally did show up I was surprised since I wasn't feeling any crampiness or anything, and I haven't felt any crampiness since then except when I had AF right on schedule a few weeks ago. I would say there's a really good chance the cramping feelings are your body gearing up.

My body felt like it was gearing up for a while, also.

I think I got my period back at 5 months postpartum. Geeze, is that bad I already have forgotten???

Yeah I am totally expecting it any day now... But have been for weeks or months?! I think my body can't figure it out because of all the pumping and then some days not pumping- pretty sure that if it weren't for the pumping I'd be producing a lot less milk and would get my period.
Who the heck knows. I really appreciate not having a period since ... Ummm August 5, 2011?! ... But I also feel premenstrual and crampy so I would rather have some answers.
No period here yet. I don't think I'll be seeing it for a good while, I'm feeding this kid every hour or two, day and night.
Well-- yes it was my long lost period after all... I was initially kind of excited to get it this morning .... You know, 18 months with no period felt like a decent stretch... But now that I am crampy and bleeding and whatnot, I am like, wait, what was I excited about!?

ugh... I am sorry, rozziemama! I hate my period. Hate it. I hope you can do something to make it not so bad. Chocolate? Wine? Both?

still no period here (and enjoying it)
