Curled up in warm snuggles, many of us have and will breastfeed our little ones well past infancy and into childhood. The topic may cause quite a stir in mainstream media (note Time's new cover of a mom nursing her three-year-old) but Mothering has long been publishing articles and images showcasing Breastfeeding Beyond Infancy with the simple intent of offering support and inspiration for moms on their beautiful breastfeeding journeys.
To showcase the beauty of Breastfeeding Beyond Infancy Mothering will be compiling a slideshow of images of women breastfeeding children older than one year.
To be included in the slideshow please post an image of yourself breastfeeding your child in this thread before June 1st.
We are very thankful for the many beautiful photographs that have been shared thus far and look forward to including them. We would, however, like to complete this project with a more accurate sampling of our diverse community. Because the slideshow will consist of user submitted images only, we are asking all of you to please contribute your photos to make sure we are representing women of color, LGBT families, single parents, teen parents and other generally underrepresented mamas. We have extended the deadline in the hopes of receiving more photos that fill this need.
Please know that Mothering may publish the photos elsewhere on the site or on Mothering's social media network pages (Facebook, Pinterest, etc.) so if you prefer to not have your photo featured by Mothering outside of this thread and slideshow please place that statement at the bottom of your post. All images without this statement will be considered for use editorially on the Mothering site and for possible feature "cover" photographs on Mothering's facebook page without further notice to you.
Please note: if you are not a member you may not see the "reply" button--you will need to sign up as a member to post first. Some images are held for moderation by our system--this is automatic and all will be approved by our team as quickly as possible. If you do not see your image as posted please check by later.
Thanks everyone!!
