Pain in one spot on right breast « Back to Group Discussions

I've been having pinchy/stingy pain in one spot on the side of my right breast.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I did mention it to my midwife last week and she didn't seem concerned but told me to go have it checked out with my primary.  That seemed really annoying to me- I would think the mw would be the one more experienced with that sort of thing.

I can't feel a lump in there, although I feel lots of lumpy stuff, which I imagine would be normal.  It's just starting to freak me out a little.  I'm dragging my feet on going to see my doctor, since I hate to bring my daughter with me for a breast exam.  But then I have to find childcare.  And then I know my dr. will order a breast ultrasound, which I have to pay for b/c my insurance sux.  

Oh, I forgot to mention that this spot that is bothering me is the same spot that I thought I felt a lump at last year.  My dr. felt it too and ordered an ultrasound.  By the time I had the ultrasound I was past my period and the lump seemed to be gone- the ultrasound showed nothing.  So this makes me a little extra freaked out.

When to Worry About Breast Lumps

If you find what appears to be a fluid-filled cyst during your menstrual period, your doctor may want to check your breast again at the end of your period to see if the cyst has disappeared. If the cyst goes away, you and your doctor will know your lump was indeed benign and related to the hormonal fluctuations associated with menstruation.

So the fact that it's painful makes it less worrisome, and the fact that you had one in the same spot before doesn't mean anything since it went away on its own. Also, during pregnancy your breasts will be more lumpy than usual, and also more sore. Obviously still go see your doctor about it (hopefully he'll decide it's not worth an ultrasound), but unless there are other warning signs from the list I linked, I would try not to worry too much. :-)

thanks for that info.  I sucked it up and went to the dr. today.  She thinks that I have a blocked duct.  And she flat out said that I do not have cancer.  I'm going to try putting a wet washcloth and hot water bottle on it.  Hopefully that will help it drain and it won't get infected.  I feel so much better after going.

I had one in my axilla/breast area about 3 weeks ago.  Based on my own health knowledge (I"m a chiro) I'm pretty sure it was just an inflamed lymph node.  But certainly the thoughts go through your head.  Sorry you had such stress!  

You can also try cabbage leaves if it's a blocked duct?
