Former Nov 2012 mom, now a Dec 2012/Jan 2013 mom!

Hi!

I'm a former Nov 2012 mama (my old thread), miscarried, got preg again right away, and am now due Dec 31, 2012.

Our plan was to just go through life with the 3 kids we have. Well, March rolled around and life, apparently, had other ideas! HOW that pregnancy happened, I don't know. We'd taken precautions, but it still happened. Shock, but we were ok with it. Unfortunately, I miscarried at 5 weeks.

We decided to throw caution to the wind, if you will, and not take precautions again until April, when my cycle was expected to hit again. Cycle never hit. I know after a loss things can be a little screwy for a bit, so I wasn't too worried. Until I started being really nauseated and extremely sensitive to smells. I took one of those mail order tests that tests as low as 10 mIU and got a BRIGHT positive immediately. It wasn't like the March test that you had to hold at an angle, in the right light, and pop it out of the case. LOL There was NO QUESTION that it was a bfp.

I get hyperemesis gravidarum, so I've been vomiting nightly, so far, gagging frequently, and nauseated almost constantly. I have food aversions and am super sensitive to smells. My older kids are aware of what's going on and have been very helpful. HG typically gets worse for me with each pregnancy, so we're preparing for catastrophe. My 12 yr old son stayed home from school yesterday to help me get through the day and take care of his little brother. For a kid with aspergers, asking him to leave his computer (Minecraft) randomly just does NOT happen. Yesterday, without ever pausing, griping, or being frustrated, any time I called for him, he jumped up and was by my side as fast as he could be. Love that boy. Never complained once about being pulled away from his game or about doing something for his bro.

Even though I prefer to home birth, because the HG just gets worse, and has been UNmanaged for 3 pregnancies, now, I refuse to let it happen again. I will trade a homebirth for a healthy pregnancy. There's a local midwife who delivers in hospital AND can write scripts, so I'll have some good treatment. And a friend of mine is an admitting dr (not OB) at the hospital I'll be birthing at, and that makes me feel better.

YAAAY!!! Do you have people commenting on going early and having a christmas baby?

All the time!!  I have been told so many times just to schedule a c-section the week before and be done.  I just smile politely and say "Thanks for that thought but that's not how I roll!"  Are you getting it too??

LOL!!!! Yes, have major abdominal surgery for no reason other than to have a christmas baby! :D

Husband asked. My 10 yr old asked me NOT to. LOL Her reasons were for the whole bday/xmas present thing being "unfair" because the baby would get more presents than her. :p I told her I could save up her bday gifts for xmas. lol
