Hi,

I always like to try and guess what I am having based on when we dtd and when I ovulated. With dd, we didn't have any other kids, so it was a lot easier to just try to dtd whenever we wanted and hope for the best. So, I have no idea where I was in my cycle.  According to the Shettles method, boys are faster swimmers, so the closer you are to ovulation, the more likely you are to conceive a boy. This seems to have been the case for me with ds. I was seeing an accupuncturist to help me conceive after two losses, and I was using a fertility monitor. We dtd the day that the monitor told me I was the most fertile and we got our ds. This time around, we know for certain when we conceived because we had been going through a dry spell and we were thrilled to have a moment to ourselves. It was on day 14 of my regular 28 day cycles. I has a positive pregnancy test exactly two weeks later. So, curious if this will be another boy.

What about you?

By the way, I would be delighted either way, so no preference. Just for sheer guessing purposes.

Umm.. We didn't BD on O day but the day before.. That and the fact that I am so so sick, make me think girl. And before we started trying the cycle we got pregnant I said to DH "Oh i feel like there is a little girl around me". I am not normally a spiritual person so this was extra odd!

And as soon as I POAS and saw a second line a voice in my head screamed "GIRL!"

Who knows! :) A little girl would be super nice !

I have PCOS, and even on Metformin my cycles are super long. So I ovulated on CD 28, and we DTD on that day, the day after, as well as the four days before (we were really going for it, lol). So...I have no idea. I've barely had any morning sickness (just felt a little queasy every now and again), so if we're going by that, it's looking like a boy. We're totally up for either, but I'm definitely a tomboy and I'll admit that the idea of raising a girl makes me a little more nervous than a boy. We shall see!

I don't believe the social construct and expectations of the assigned gender role can be guessed upon based on when one's parents had sex. orngtongue.gif Same goes for the sex of a child.

Unfortunately, I never paid attention to my cycle in the past.  This time, I conceived on my first ovulation since the birth of DD2 and we have been nursing this whole time, so I have no idea where I was in my cycle.  But I can say this, we had our date night, and then about 36 hours later I woke up thinking:  I. am. ovulating.  I knew it was go time at that moment and that we were pregnant.  According to the theory, that would mean girl for us, so we'll see how it plays out!

I don't track my cycles - other than knowing when my period is due and approximately when I've ovulated, so I'm not sure.  But I think all of the ways "to tell" are fun - from how you're carrying, to heart rate, to the chinese birth calendar, to gum color I guess now!  I don't know the first two yet obviously, but if the calendar and gum color (pink;) are right, then we might be in for another girl!  Oh, and it's also sometimes said that the sex of your baby is whatever is needed in the house to balance out the current surplus of male or female energy (which could be caused by 3 rowdy boys or 1 strong willed girl for, example.)

Sorry to go off topic!
