We never used protection after having her and my PPAF returned last April (2011). I'd say we weren't doing a good job with timing until June. Since last June I've charted and we've had well time intercourse every month. I had a short luteal phase and was taking supplements and going to acupuncture and taking herbs. It didn't get my LP longer than 9 days. I was also nursing my DD up until October 2011. In January 2012, I saw an OB and he basically said that we can do a SA, blood work and HSG when I hit the one year mark (April 2012). In the meantime, he was willing to give me a script for Prometrium to be taken orally after ovulation. The first month I took it, my LP was 12 days and AF showed up before I stopped the Prometrium. I also had some light spotting during my LP. The second month, I ovulated much earlier (CD 13 vs CD 15 - 19) and got a BFP. I kept on the Prometrium, but found out at my first pre-natal that the baby had stopped developing 2 weeks earlier. I had a D&C in mid-March. We were given the green light to try again this past month. I took Prometrium again and I'm now 12 DPO. I had several days of spotting again and have been getting BFNs so I'm pretty sure I'm out.
So, we've been trying for a little over a year, but I had a loss in that time. Does that mean I have to try again for a year since the loss, or should I seek help at this point? I don't want to delay intervention if that's where I'm headed.
I know this is only the very tip of the fertility iceberg, and that I have no idea what many of you have gone through, but I'd like to say that even this modest amount of disappointment has been really hard. So, I hope it's ok that I'm posting here, but I definitely don't want to undermine the difficult journeys that many of you have had or are having. If this isn't the right place for me to ask these questions, please let me know.
