VBAC in Los Angeles, Medi-Cal options, Midwife?

Hi,

I'm hoping for a VBAC birth with my 2nd child. I am 13 weeks pregnant, and I have Medi-Cal benefits. I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for a provider in LA who accepts Medi-Cal? I've been going to Kaiser Cadillac and have NOT been happy with them*.

I would be willing to do a hospital birth if I can find the right provider, ideally I would love to have a home birth, but are there midwives who accept medi-cal?

Thank you!!

*for starters, they misused their ultrasound equipment and told me I miscarried at 9 weeks, when I didn't!!! And this was after I declined the ultrasound and they pressured me into doing it, and in general they seem far too dependent on technology.

Well, there's the UCLA midwives (hospital birth)

Beach Cities Midwifery (but they don't do VBAC's)

South Coast Midwifery (too far for me)

Simona's  Birth Center (far and only a hospital birth with the midwive is covered)

BUT there is also "The Community Birth Center" out here where they have a sliding scale...

I haven't yet decided what I'm doing...But there are options...

The Community Birth Center is good and the midwife there has a good reputation.  And as a bonus, you can birth at the center or at your home... your choice on the day of birth.

UCLA midwives no longer take medical.  Now, the women's health center (http://www.wwhcenter.org/) uses the midwives at California hospital.

Also, don't forget to come to our ICAN meeting.
